I got mine today as well, and yes you are definitely going to want to check it out. I started by '62 Vette Gasser about three weeks ago and it is about 75% done. Definitely not a clone of the two in Hot Rod, but braodly similar in flavor. Another highlight of this issue was Thom Taylor's article on the Ashley Web Roadster built by her father Dan Webb. I know Dan and Thom both pretty well, and watched that roadster come together in Dan's shop, so the article was a very interesting read on a number of levels. I used .005 Evergreen as the belt stock and then .020 Evergreen rod for the teeth. I laiid a piece of tape on my bendh and dribbled some Model Master liquid glue on it. Then chopped off a whole bunch of pieces of rod about 2 - 3 times longer than the width actually needed...just to make it easier to hold them! I talked to Roger Lee and he told me his 1:1 blower belt is 1/4" thick at the root of the teeth with 1/4" thick teeth. So in 1/25, the teeth should be only about half this size. I used stretched sprue for the ribs on my belts and made them with black electrical tape - it has a pretty realistic look to it when finished and doesn't really even need painting (though the ribs do). And yes, I got my Hot Rod in...you're right...love that Kandy Apple Red one! Well...love them both actually. In fact, I'm going to the hobby shop in a little while to pick up another one. Have you seen the kit yet? On the decal sheet they have these really cool side panel inserts that are printed with Tru-fire style flames. And they look really good! I do believe I'm going to build another 62 and use those inserts! Mark Brown Posted December 8, 2012 Share Posted December 8, 2012 I dabbed the teeth on mine with a very light tough of CA glue - enough to permanently hold them in place but not enough to stiffen up the belt. Ten or so years later they're all still hanging in there, so I guess it worked! I haven't seen the kit - I've got a pile of the old AMT '57 "street machine" kits that I bought for some of their neat parts, so I'm good on classic Corvettes for some time to come. I started messing with a project similar to yours a couple years ago, and it just recently found its way back to the bench. I've got most of the chassis stuff done (my favorite part) and now I'm trying to make my mind up on a powerplant......strongly leaning toward a 426 Max Wedge/four-speed combo.
