Probably a little too early but I am sure I will personally not be finishing anything by December anyway. These are my builds for 2010.....

This first one was for a friend, Revell's famous '41 Willys.....

I only managed to finish off two models this year, but the third one , still OTB, has come quite a long way....

1st one this years was my 1930 VW Type30 Prototype

2nd was the Matchbox-inspired Maxi HA HA

And, finally...my "almost finished" 1936 Ford 3w coupe

Wow some really nice looking models here!!

Cruz, Your finishes look amazing would you mind sharing your system/process?

I am new to clear coat and buffing and would like to learn more.

Thank you my friend, there are a lot of guys in here with very good painting skills also and each of them have their own way of going about doing their own finishes, I personally like to use the Micro-Mesh polishing cloths. The first thing to remember is that you have to make sure you have enough clear or paint on the body before using the cloths. I like to wetsand my finishes but if you are a begginer, I would not suggest that, just try using them dry at first until you get better at it.

The Micro-Mesh system starts at grit 3200 and goes up to 3600, 4000, 6000, 8000 and finally 12000. The 3200 is the workhorse and will eliminate all the orange peel from your paint but beware, this is the tricky one, it really takes off a lot of your paint. Make sure to keep away from any sharp edges. Once done with the 3200, the following ones will take care of all the scratches left by the previously used ones.

After I am done with the polishing cloths, I like to use a quality chamois and Maguiar's Cleaner Wax to finish everything off. I would dab a small amount on my index finger and spread it on the paint in a circular motion, once done I use the chamois to take off the remaining wax. The reason for the chamois? It does not leave any scratch marks on the paint like flannel and cotton tend to do. The reason for the Maguiar's wax? It's a cleaner wax and will work on the scratches left by the polishing cloths.

This is the way I like to do it and it's what works for me, try it and if you like it, well, you will be a happy modeler!!! I always like to suggest painting a few extra bodies or hoods for practicing purposes, this way you will not be compromising any of your more serious builds. It's kind of a tedious process but remember, you get out what you put in....

This year has been a very productive year when it comes to building models. I have so far built 24 kits and there's still three more in the works. I won't post all (as it may break this post) but I will post a few.

My first build of this year was this little SmartCar. It was a cool project. Never did one and non of my model car club members done one yet. I was the first :D

My Ninth Build was this 68 Firebird painted to look like the one that Chip Foose did in Overhaulin TV Show

This was number thirteen Model a 69 Camaro Z-28 RS.

Number Nineteen was this BMW M5 that I built for my brother

And this was number twenty a 1925 Model T Ford Pick-Up

The last build I still have not gotten a chance to photograph it in my studio. But it's a Lamborghini Mucielago painted to look like the one that was done in the TV Show Street Customs by West Coast Customs nick named the "Tuxedo Lambo". This build was a tribute to good friend and fellow model car builder that past away this September 2010.
