That P71 belongs to yours truly. It's a 2004 ; a former Inglewood P.D. unit ( number 428 ). There are only two things about it that I wish it had : 1.) Rubber mats (has carpeting - and is coded as such ) 2.) Cruise control

While I haven't much to offer in respect to your enquiries, I can tell you that this kit has its origins in late 1983 ( ! ) as the then-new (and groundbreaking) 1984 model. That chassis is almost dead-bollocks to the 1983 original. Bottom line ? Perhaps the chassis is de facto "warped" due to the ad infinitum running of the ad sequitur annual kits ? Another gem from the Notorious sessions of mid-late 1967. This is Mc Guinn fooling around with the then-new Moog synthesiser - a 9,000$ instrument ! The Moog was used extensively on Notorious (and to a lesser extent on other Byrds albums) - one of the first "Pop" (Rock) albums to feature the instrument ( The Monkees Pieces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones, Ltd. was released in November 1967, beating the Byrds album by a couple of months ). Without further ado :

An "incomplete" recording ; a studio instrumental from Summer or Autumn 1967. Chris Hillman took the song to Manassas who recorded a slower-tempo, vocals-included version for their 1972 self-titled album. I'm keen on this up-tempo take - too bad that it never received a vocal treatment.

I can't be the only one who misread this as "prostate" initially. 😁
