  1. Haha last Christmas... Here's another shot of the cab, gotta hit a all the small spots/creases.
  2. Should have the cab all finished up tomorrow. Hopefully the little guy can come by this weekend and we can get the rest of the little things painted up and done. Then onto his shelf. I'll probably be starting a build of my own that'll be fully rusted out with holes and such, just not sure what kit yet.
  3. This one I probably won't do any rusted through areas. I usually do that before paint on other kits. Paint on the body is done. Sky blue with rusty primer dusted over it. Right now I am weathering it and giving it the correct colors and shades of rust using oil pastels.
  4. Man, great build! Really makes me wish I didn't turn my kit into a beater. Pro street trucks are one of my favorite thing in both 1:25 and 1:1.
  5. Thank you! I put the dents in it, I just took a lighter and held it a few inches from the body until the area I wanted to dent got soft. After it had softened up a bit I used random tools/parts and used them to dent or crease the body. Very easy to do, I've done it with candles too, actually prefer candles over lighter.
  6. Thanks a lot! I'd have to say it is the most fun I've had building a kit. Helping the little guy and seeing what he can do is way more gratifying than any plastic car I can put on my shelf.
  7. Having a little fun on this build. I bought my 10 year old brother a couple models for Christmas and told him we can build together, so we started this Revell '55 Ford F-100 Street Rod together. It's his 1st time building so we're taking our time and teaching him how to paint/glue/read instructions. Anyways, model is being built box stock, but he wanted it to look "old". Everything besides the body looks new and shiny, body is rusty and dented. He painted the truck sky blue and I misted it with Rustoleum rusty metal primer (red stuff). This helps give a base rust coat. So far he has done excellent. Paints way better than I did at 10. Here's a shot of the cab with some weathering work in progress. Chasis: 1st engine my little bro painted/built. Used Testors acrylic and had really good results. He used black acrylic on the suspension too.
  8. Couldn't agree more. For as long as I can remember I've been in love with plain. Jane sleepers. A 4 door would be really cool too. I gotta get working on my conversions now!
  9. The roof off a 65 is closer to the sedan roof of the 67 300s, but not exact. I had the same thought at 1st, but decided to keep the 65 roof on the car and convert that instead.
  10. That is awesome, Roger! I haven't worked on any of my 300 conversions yet today, but might start up here soon. Love the way yours is turning out though. What did you from the El Camino?
  11. Plowboy, post up some pics if you wouldn't mind. I'd love to see how yours is going!
  12. 65s getting there. Hopefully I can get the rear window figured out and onto the posts. I'll jump back to the 67 tonight and get it going.
  13. Getting the rear quarter windows reshaped for the sedan body. They are a little bigger than the SS windows and are more rounded than straight angles. 1:1: Before reshaping: After reshaping:
  14. Yep, Chevy used the same roof as the 4 doors, but the 4 doors had shorter doors and rear quarters than the 2 door sedans. Of course Chevy had to be difficult. I know one of the Revell 64 GTO kits you can build it as a post car or without.
  15. Yeah the problem with 300s is they used the same roof as 4 door cars, the roof height on 1:1s between 300s and Malibus 1/4" or so different, back or the roof/window is different, so before I cut anything I'll mess around with some more ideas and see what I come up with. I agree though, a phantom body style would look really cool too...hmm I have been looking at those more and more as this conversion goes on.
