Stef
Hello everyone Been working on a side project for the past year; collecting internet images of model car box top art for American cars, pickups and vans. I've collected 3565 images so far, each meticulously named and organized. I'm opening this project up to the modeling community to help fill in gaps, offer corrections, missing information and contribute better images. Anyone able to help in sourcing better, higher resolution images would be greatly appreciated. Ideally, all art would be at least 600 px wide, face-on, cropped, colour-corrected and have no celophane wrinkles, reflections, hotspots, obstructive stickers, box top damage or digital watermarks. Post images in this thread and I'll keep the galleries updated. All Photoshop masters out there are welcome to join me in cleaning up the images that are hard to replace. Many thanks to Harry P., kataranga, W-409, ToyLvr, o-man, checkmate, AzTom, 421gto, mrknowetall and everyone else for contributions. While this project is now complete, please feel free to post images in this thread! Post images of missing kits and better images of existing kits, and I'll keep the galleries updated regularly. Thanks! Harry P.
That's a very ambitious project! I'd suggest you get a Photobucket account and create some photo albums there... maybe one for each manufacturer? A photo hosting site is the best way to arrange and store your images... and they will be available for others to see.
Eshaver
I think Mr. Tucker would have approved of you're concept !
Guest G Holding
You need to talk with dpmcc and bob black. They already have a well known site with directions for the kits. Your art would fit nicely in that area. I am not associated with them, I use them as a modeling resource http://www.thedpmcc.com/ Edited April 28, 2013 by G Holding

JohnU
Thanks for the heads up about dpmcc.com being shut down. Very disappointing! I really enjoyed referencing the site for instructions of kits I intended to purchase or was curious of. Anyone know if this is a permanent condition? oter11
www.thedpmcc.com is no longer online. It was supposed to expire May 4th, but it's early. I want to thank everyone that supported the site over nearly the last decade. It's been a real pleasure and an honor. I am lucky to have made a lot of great friends and contacts through the years. The club still lives on, just without the .com address. It is possible that in the near future I may resurrect the site or completely start over with a different view/goal. For now, if anyone needs to see instructions or box art...just check the fotki site which will be under major reconstruction soon by the way! TooOld
HEY GUYS ! You need to read all of the posts above . The dpmcc.com site is gone but " All Of The Instructions " are still available at the Fotki site ! They didn't disappear forever , the are still there ! The Instructions Forum is still there ! The Drastic Plastics forum is still there !
Stef
Hey guys, thank you all for your responses. Harry: Yes, I was thinking of sorting by auto maker, say one thread per manufacturer? Will look into Photobucket and similar sites for image upload and sorting. Where would be the best place in this forum to post my images? Would Tumblr or Pinterest be better suited for such a project? Eshaver: Thank you so much for your compliments. Here's hoping Tucker goes back into business. GHolding and oter11: Thanks for the links. The DPMCC Fotki site is amazing and far more comprehensive than anything I could ever hope to achieve on my own. What a monumental undertaking, wow. It's highly likely I've gotten many of my Google image search results from them, actually.

Would Tumblr or Pinterest be better suited for such a project? What I would do is create my albums in Photobucket (or Fotki or Pinterest or Picassa or whichever one you like)... then simply post a link to the albums here. I use Photobucket myself, always have, and I like it, but that's just personal preference. Any photo hosting site would do the job. Once you have your albums set up and organized how you want them on your photo hosting site (by auto brand or model kit manufacturer or however you want to do it), all you have to do is post a link here, and we can click on the link and go directly to your album(s). If you wanted to post a few images right here, I'd say the best place to do it would probably be the "General" section.

Foxer
I like that in album by make. I congratulate you on the extensive work this must have involved! There were so many box tops I had never seen there!
peekay
Enjoyed that a lot and will look in regularly - thank-you! I suppose it's too late and would be too much work but I've always been interested in the sides and ends of kit boxes too.

TooOld
Stef , This is good stuff ! Why don't you just do it alphabetically ?
Fabrux
I would say that he IS doing it alphabetically, when you consider that the majority of Jeep model kits are from the time when AMC owned the marque.
