Casey
Looks like Round2 is reissuing "The General" locomotive in August or so : MPC 1/25 The General Locomotive

bamadon
This may be a great load for a low bed trailer.
Jim B
It's 1/25. This is interesting. Might have to check this one out. I figured it would be 1/87 (HO) or 1/48 (O). Must be pretty big in 1/25. Oddly Round2 still doesn't list any 2015 MPC kits on their Website. Edited May 21, 2015 by Jim B

bbowser
Wow, I'm in. I've watched a couple of these on eBay but they always get too rich for my blood. I'd love to build one of these for something different.
Jim B
I wonder what Harry P. could do with this?

cobraman
Might make an interesting diorama pushing a western style Delorean like in one of the back to the future movies.
spencer1984
I'm in, too. I remember my dad building one of these years ago, it would be nice to revisit it.
Rob Hall
Kind of a big scale for a train.. too bad some 20th century trains haven't been kitted in 1/25th..one of the 30s streamliners or GM trains would be neat for a diorama..
Toner283
Might make an interesting diorama pushing a western style Delorean like in one of the back to the future movies. AMT/Ertl put out a version of the BTTF Delorean with the train wheels and a short section of track. I have a blueprinter issue with three different BTTF cars in one box. lordairgtar
Kind of a big scale for a train.. Not really. G scale covers the gamut between 1/32 to 1/22 depending on the manufacturer. All tracks are the same between manufacturers and the track in the kit is a bit wider than G scale. Most buildings, stores, houses kits for G scale are 1/24th scale. GLMFAA1
It would be interesting if somebody would do a 'how to' to change it to a coal burner instead of wood, or make after market parts to make the UP gold railroad spike engines There was a set of metal figures (Magnuson Foundry) for this kit when it was first released, an interesting diorama would be Prieser (elastolin) American Indian figures chasing the iron horse greg Edited May 26, 2015 by GLMFAA1
Jim B
I wonder though, is this standard gauge track (4ft 8-1/2") or Southern wide gauge track (5ft). What's also interesting is that these are going for $10 - $60 on eBay.

Jim B
Thanks for that, Dominik. I appreciate it. Just to satisfy my curiosity, what is the track gauge (distance between the inside of the rails)?

I'd love to see a 1/25th scale GM EMD E or F diesel of late 30's - 1950's. The General looks like a cool kit. But, nothing I want to add to me collection. Jim B
Thanks, Dominik. That's pretty close to Standard Gauge (4'-8-1/2" or 1435mm)
Ryan S.
It's not quite right for a replica Back to the Future train, but would still make a cool piece in a BTTF diroama, just the same. Here's more info on the BTTF train: http://backtothefuture.wikia.com/wiki/Locomotive_131
