one of the plugs i made for the wood frame i used o make a rolled up canvas roof , all still very rough and ....

need opinions weather to go trhough with it or not .. i'm in doubt

i do like it but i also like it without ..

if i continue this i will make 2 slots where i can make some leather straps in so it looks like the canvas is pulled tight ..

also i will make the styrene look more like canvas with creeses and glue some paper cloth on last that creates a canvas look , sort of canvas texture

and ofcourse some rails or like strips where the canvas can sit in / on

so shout away >>> do or dont ?

There are many aspects of this model, some very basic such as the "scalp't" roof and the rear deck louvering, and others more detailed, such as the mounting and design of the front suspension, that already diverge strongly from an authentic replica of a period hot rod. This is despite the gorgeous stance and period correct wheels and tires and the contemporary/traditional blown flathead. The roll-back soft top is another such detail. In that sense it's in keeping with much of the rest of the project. However, IMHO, it detracts from the really nice stance and lines of the car so I would vote against it, even if it is technically impressive.

painted the body and chassis tonight !!

looks very classy imo , its copper brown metallic

538362_255588021240782_2103594844_n.jpg

i scribed the panellines deeper and before painting i sanded the body and chassis for the last time with superfine paper .

i took my time and folded the paper and really sanded the inside of the panellines and glad i did they came out great and very smooth , close up >

the pics are not really showing the result good , its hard to get it photographed nicely in the artificial light

chassis

when it dryed the gloss seemd to become even higher > 2 examples where i went like whow , its real smooth also

now i have no clue if it stays shiny and reflective since this is the first time i painted a model metallic (def. not the last time !!!)

but if it doesnt its fine then i just clear coat it , witch i will do anyway i think to seal the paint and get a nice layer i can polish

hey gewoon een spuitbus van de bouwmarkt copper metallic van flexa

for the rest who can read dutch > he asked what paint i used and i awnsered that its from a paint can and waht brand :)

Richard,

I can't say anything more than already has been said. I have enjoyed watching you build this great

32' 3-window coupe.

Look forward to more of your outstanding work and creativity.

Ron

thnx !! well after this one i will start with a highboy roadster , i want to make that as low as possible and maybe make a custom shaped roof on it (fixed roof) like a unique shape and .....

some daylight pics , the panellines need a dark wash later on , i just painted the body and chassis again ..

on the body the rear trunk panels had some minour lighter spots along the seems ..

it still was a bit reflective after drying , but i will do some clear coat to make it realy shine

563291_255992287867022_701060155_n.jpg

i washed the wood with clear coat , so its not to shiney but the clear brought it to life a bit

the color of the wood and paint are actually pretty nice togheter , still enough contrast color wise

It even looks better in color.. are you keeping it shiny.. or are you going to age it a little?

i'm thinking shiney ..

i do want to wash the panellines and wash the louvres on the trunk , i think i will first clear coat it , then do the panellines and clear it a second time

i could try to give the lines a bit of depth by using a wash ..

like after clearing it wash the bodylines that stick out

i sprayed a small box for a test because the clear is a differen brand and i never did metallic so i will test the clear first ..

just imagine clearing it and the paint would wrinkle :o

its metallic out of a spray can and there is already clear coat in 2 in one paint ...but its not shiney enough

dit the inside of the grille black , tried a new way to do this , instead of a wash i just sprayed the whole grlle black and rubbed of the top part leaving the black inside , worked better then a wash with black acrylic paint

Looking good rich. Always fun to watch your builds, every single one of them has such a different style and personality. I'm diggin the way you cut that roof off and did that trunk lid with tail lights. Nice choice with the color, can't wait to see it all finished up.

After you painted the grill black, what did you use to wipe the paint off of the bars a perimeter? Did you let it dry or wipe it off wet?

just a smooth cloth , so a cloth with no structure and i sprayed it on and directly wiped it , then sprayed it ounce more and wiped it again , all right after eitch other

worked so good , the spray can paint just sticks in the deep parts better then acrylic paint

you def. want to wipe it directly because there would be a big chance you wipe of the chrome if you let it dry a bit .

the paint could react a bit or you would need some stuff to get it off

this is the end result of the grille

thnx and well yes kind of found this way worked great for me , after doing it like most all the parts pre-painted i felt this was way easyer and i got betetr results , the less you have to glue after paint the bettter

did the panellines , tbh i srewed up and used black and it looked terrrible

in a effort to save it i painted gold enamel in there and washed that out and the black toned down a bit .

i do feel how it is now contributes to the vintage feel i'm after.

although it shiney i still want it to be on the rough used side also

the louvres on the trunk need a nother wash after downtoning it i got dark and light earea's

tomorrow with daylight i will paint the doorhinges chrome , that i think will also contribute a lot to the body
