Revell Fox hatch conversion

As a break from the 1:1 car building, I decided that what I really wanted to do today was to saw up some plastic and resin. The grey, windy, rainy day contributed to the decision, it's kind of like Chicago only without the soul-crushing cold.

I started by cutting the hatch area off of an MPC '87 Mustang GT.

Figuring out where to cut the coupe was interesting, I wanted to save as much of the roof and 1/4 window detail as possible to make less work for myself.

Ain't no turning back now!

The hatch needs to be widened, so I broke out the hatch stretcher.

Thanks everyone for the vote of confidence. Looks like this body may be popular! Steaming right along, latest progress:

Some interior bracing, garden variety aluminum flashing. A master needs to be stout for casting, because removing it from the inner mold twists it and un-reinforced joints give up. And I don't like doing things twice.

Next: Lots of fussy boring stuff that doesn't make for the most interesting of pictures.

Once you get this master done, and cast. Are you going to build one in Teal Green?

Yes, sort of. Not the LX, I'm planning to build one but haven't decided on a color yet. Maybe Reef Blue or Strawberry. But the next version after this one will be an accurate '93 Cobra, and I'll build one of those in Teal.

Finally. Now an 85 or 86 nose would really be nice!

X3!!! I would love to build my 1st car so much, an 86 lx 5.0 coupe.

Also an aero fox era saleen "body kit" would be outstanding as well.. hint hint haha but an accurate 93 cobra would be killer too. Keep up the good work, the hatch area looks great already.
