63 Riviera Restoration

I'm restoring a 63 Riviera screw buttom I won on ebay for $15.00. It's 100% complete and best of all it was brush painted back in 63. It will be going into the Purple Power this evening to be stripped down to it's bare plastic glory. I'm thinking a nice Silver Blue with a Pale Blue interior. I've been looking for one of these for a long time and I can't wait to get started.

Looks like a great find. I have always wondered why people will pay $15.00 plus shipping and handling for a built model on E Bay and when I have had the same kit un built at a swap meet & show and people will snivel and complain that's to much.

You aren't finding an unbuilt '63 Riviera cheap at a swap meet. The kit that you will find is the 1965, and yes that one would be found cheap and better purchased unbuilt.

After spending a week in Purple Power to remove the red brush paint and a flat black primer, The bidy and interior is down to bare plastic. I replaced the broken windshield post and I primed the body with Tamiya's grey primer. Tomorrow I'll head to the LHS to get my body paint. I never know what color I'm painting it until I all they have. I'm still leaning towards the silever blue, but that could change.

Thanks for looking.
