1959-63 Rolls Royce Phantom V High Roof limousine

The body may be okay to build as a limousine, but obviously the tires are way too small. No postwar Roll-Royce ever came with wire wheels. What scale is this? You might be able to use some interior parts from the 1/24 Minicraft Silver Cloud, but it's not very good at all. I would also suggest that for a good interior to bash and wheels, the best choice would be the Testors/Italeri Roll-Royce Phantom II Star of India. There are no good choices for a Silver Cloud engine, unless you're ready to deal with the Revell parts pak 1949 Cadillac, which Rolls stole from them..

It's 1/24 scale. I searched my partsbox for quite a while ooking for the perfect set of tires, but these were the best I had (much better than the Fujimi's that came with the Wheels). However, I agree, they do look a bit small but will probably look a bit better once I lower the car !

I will most likely scratchbuild whatever interiorbucket I finally decide on, using the stock one as a base.

It's hard to tell from the one side view pictured above about the rest of the body, but it's possible that a bit of work to make the rear of the roof slope down more would help. Most Silver Cloud long-wheelbase limos had coachwork by Mulliner or James Young, but there have been many custom variations, particularly for cars for heads of state, which the model appears to be.

If it's 1/24 as stated, I'd still check out the Minicraft Silver Cloud for parts or reference.

Thanks for the links to the 1:1 scale cars. Yes, this toy looks quite similar to the Phantom VI of the british Queen. But, I've also found several pic's on the net of other High Roof Phantoms V limos and they also look very similar to my toy body! So, it's really not "that" off in the proportions....

Here's one (1960 model):

I think the only real issue is where the bottom window line curves down on the front quarterlight so doesn't line up with the bonnet (hood) line, something to do with the scuttle in front of the windscreen being a little low. The profile of the 1:1 regardless of coachwork has a single gently sweeping line from radiator to the very rear of the car. Building up the scuttle and raising the rear of the bonnet would help a lot. I know it's easy for me to say, actually doing it would be beyond my skills! Good luck with this project.

There will be some work done to the body....however NO chopping as I really want to keep it as a High Roof Special body (by Mulliner/Park Ward). I totally agree about that bottom window line curve, it's not to find on the 1:1 scale car and needs to be taken care of! Also the Vent windows are to big and the C-pillar needs to be moved back a bit. These things are easy fixes thou.... By this time I've also found TWO interior buckets in my stash so I'm now planning for a full custom interior with a 42" flat screen TV-set in the back ! The car will most likely run british plates when finished! To bad I have to spend so much time at work, I'd rather be at home building models!!!!!

Ahem...

Even if he'd whack some Donks on it, it would still be OK, because we all can do what we want.

I'd slam this thing and paint it so psychedelic, that even John Lennon's Roller pales in comparison.

I like the wires, but maybe with those whitewalls. Seems more, "upscale" I guess you could say. Bit more refined looking, but it depends what look you are after. Well done building is more important than the styling, as styling is a matter of personal preference. There are alot of builds on here that are very well done with styling that I wouldn't come within 100 feet of it in real life. There are also builds with style that I love but are so horridly built, I want to toss my lunch. The ones that are horridly built though, they come here to get tips and to get better. Style is a matter of personal preference. Make it like you want it, and have a blast. If it torques your crank, fire it up. Etc.

The reason I'd like to go with 17/18" wire-Wheels is that I Think it'd look good for the average style o this build. It'll have a slight lowrider-look to it. Think something like a Daily driver for an upcoming lation rap-king.... 2" screen TVset in the rear compartment, some cocktail-glasses orchamagne-fluites along with a ottle in an ice-bucket and the "ing" in the rear seat, wearing a big, Heavy gold chain round his neck and , maybe, a skinny Young girl driving the car!

Now I've found tires with higher profile, however they're made for 20" Wheels , so I'll have to either modify the wires or get some other Wheels for this one.
