Model Cars Magazine Forum

Lets' face it ! It had to happen sooner or later. It was just a matter of time before I discovered this web site. Hopefully the neighborhood will survive. Anyway, I am here. I moved in yesterday the 5th of December, in the year 2006. My name is Bob Paeth and I am an "auto-holic". I started out innocently enough when I was three years old by customizing little rubber cars with modeling clay. Little did I know then that I would be baring my soul to the members here on MCMF. That was 68 years ago, ( you do the math ).

All kidding aside, I am happy to join this group and hope that I may be of some help to everyone. Many of you probably know me already so this bio will be short. Those who do not know me ........................well hurry and catch up. I have been active on other web sites for several years and have never posted any of my work. There have been a few times that my model work was posted but not by me. Hopefully, in a short while, I will be posting some of my "stuff". I am far from being the greatest model builder but I am proud of the imagination that goes into what I create. I will let you people decide for yourselves.

Bob

Bob has been a fixture of the model car world since dirt was invented.

Here is one of his models on the cover of Model Car Science way back when I was playing with blocks....

Modelcarscience1.jpg

The MCS X-100 was Bob's car and a how-to article written by the the man himself resided inside this issue.

Yes, he signed it for me a while back and NO it is not for sale!

Hi Bob, It's a pleasure to meet you. I feel I am in the company of some very gifted people here, and this is one great web site. I love the freedom which we have here to voice our opinions with out being in fear of being chased away or having our posts deleted.

I hope we can all learn something for your many years in this great hobby we all enjoy.

Bob

This is to everyone with special attention to zebm 1. I would be happy to autograph any box art that shows the kit that I was responsible for as well as any articles that I have written. If you have any old Revell kits produced in 1963 through 1970, I probably had a hand in them. My magazine articles ran in Model Car Science from the first of 1964 to somewhere around 1969. Also had a few articles in Car Model during this time span . If I can do anything for anyone just send me a PM and I will get back to you.

Bob

ps. to zebm 1: Thank you for including me in your list of modelers such as Augie and Dave Shuklas, but as far as I am concerned they are in a class by themselved, I pose no compitition. I just talk louder.

Ahhhh traveling down memory's lane, got what's left of my really old magazines....1964 Auto World 7th Edition, April and July Car Model, and Dec. 1963, April, May and Aug. 1964 Model Car Science and a 1964 AMT slip-in AMT advert....ahh tha memories. Tha Revell Car Model boxes didn't hold up too well, but I do have tha original 1957 Chubby Chebby box and some areoplane boxes, B-25, X-15. Most that I have left from that period in tha dimming past are AMT kits and boxes. Did yu also do tha Planes and thangs too Bob?

Oh and Bob, speaking of yur contemporary, legendary pioneers...ran across an article by R.A. "Smitty" Smith doing a Do-It- Yourself Metalflake paint job on a '63 T-Bird Custom - Car Model/Apr 1964.

My "only" responsibilities with Revell were in the realm of anything that used wheels to get around. Static models, slot racing, motorcycles, etc. All I had to do was work with the engineers for the plans, the model shop for the prototypes, the machine shop and their mold making efforts, the Art department to make sure the right info ( and picture ) was on the box and the marketing people to make sure they sold it in the "right light".

It was good to see "Smitty's" name again. He was very "soft spoken" when it came to models. He did not exploit his talent. He was, along with Dave Shuklas, a mainstay for the magazine "Car Model". "Car Model" was published in conjunction with the "Auto World" people. Oscar Kovelski owned "Auto World" and along with a Bob Mcleod published "Car Model" magazine.
