Identical kits!! as previously stated in the thread earlier :)

altho there are different decal sheets

the chrome is more intact on the blue kit luckily no tire burn marks on the glass of the blue kit either

oh tinted glass vs clear glass as well :) very cool kit

already dilegently modifying the front end of the orange body mating it with an "escort" front clip with some modification to make a 1987 ford escort "exp"

Number one: that's a pretty cool idea!

Number two: Where the heck are you getting an Escort front clip? They make a model of an Escort?

I personally prefer the bugeyed EXPs/LN7's (What is with those grilles???), but man, this is going to be pretty awesome!

Oh, they're the European Escort!

That's awesome! I've never seen any of those, let alone the 1/32 one. I need that badly to complete my collection of 1/32 whatever-that-platform-is. I have two EXPs and two LN7s, so I need a fifth.

The Revell non-street one would rock.

Keep up the good work on the forgotten cars, man!

I agree, I had an EXP around 87-88, and when the saw the Escort EXP, I could not for the life of me figure out why they did that to it.

yes i Agree 100% still think the escort "gt" looking front end is cool, but old EXP front end = way cooler B)

I was going to post that the EXP would have been much cooler and sold better as a convertible, but then I realized that Ford did just that selling it as the Mercury Capri, which was an Aussie assembled Escort. Another car that I thought was pretty cool but didn't sell all that well here.

yeah i agree must have sold very poorly stateside i very rarely see capri 2 seaters that were the vert's

i don't understand why mercury division just did not keep the foxbody cousin to mustang.... i often wonder what the mercury front end would have looked like with the new for 87' compound headlight front end the mustang had....... what would have become......

whats the different between the american and European Escort. ive always thought the exps were cool but around here i havent seen one in over 10 years.

Model or 1:1? The model is the same kit - even says "European" on the Revell USA box. In real 1:1 cars? Got me...

the reason i ask, the model looks like the escort my parents bought new here in indiana

The early escorts did not have the same head lights. My sisters bought a few of these new. The first one that was at our house had the American head light the rest had Euro headlights.

The Australian-built Capri 2-seat convertible shared little if anything with the Miata platform-wise. Capri was front-wheel-drive, possibly 323-based. Miata is rear wheel drive. Maybe engines?

Oops, you're correct. Not sure what I was thinking of...

At least Monogram got some mileage out of its 1/32 scale kit:

Even though the Escort was supposed to be a "World Car" (The US version had a chrome representation of a globe on the front fenders) the US version and the British/German version were very different. I think the only main thing that was shared was the engines. I am unable to post images here for some reason but if you search for Ford Escort Images you will be able to see the differences. Probably Wikipedia will describe them. Actually there are two wiki entries, one for the Euro version and one for US.

Remember that there were two generations of RWD Escorts available in Europe before the US Escort and its Euro counterpart were introduced.

The Glidden version is one of those hard-to-find-but-not-worth much models...

The 1/32 scale EXP/LN7 kits are actually great little, full detail kits, just the wrong scale.

Yea, the Aussie Capri was pretty much an Escort, so it would've shared more with the EXP than a Miata. I always said Ford could've sold more EXPs and LX7s if they were convertibles!
