wagonmaster
I like Fred's idea of the plain brown wraper. Sleeperball. Anything goes as long it is plain and boring on the outside. Wish they made a kit of the 79-91 Crown vic. would be perfect. A porsche can be boring right, that was the 914 wasn't it? Tim

Jantrix
I agree! This would be very, very interesting. And challenging when you think about it. If it is of a car that people would normally associate as fast, it has to look so bad you'd not give it a second look. If it isn't normally a fast car, you have to make it so. This could be a lot of fun, and you would have to really get creative.
wrecker388
Vannonball and Sleeperball sound pretty good. I'd definitely do Vannonball if there was an early Chevy Astro kit. would give me an excuse to build what will soon be my daily driver, only with a V8. That's another reason why it is so interesting as we could not build a OOB model with just a couple of added details or some speed parts. I don't know what car would be my entry, but a crusty and dusty '57 Chevy Bel Air might be a good basis for the project if this Sleeperball was next year's theme. It would be a good ultimate Sleeper with either a Turbocharged or Blown SBC...
Erik Smith
I like sleeper ball too, but my computer won't let me type it as one word... Sleeperball, oh, unless it's capitalized.

TFchronos
Yeah, Sleeperball sounds really good too. Nothing like appearing pure and innocent on the outside while being a devilish monster on the inside.

chunkypeanutbutter
A Nova isn't much of a sleeper to me, just because I know every single one I see on the road is beefed up. Now THIS is a real sleeper.
Pat Minarick
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pvbF6kDhWyU If we have a sleeper theme this is what I'm building, I saw this car at a gas station on my way home from Indy this past May. Date restrictions are safe, popular and we'll return to them again. But this is fresh. Like
zenrat
You mean I came up with a good idea for a change? Sleeperball is definitely a better name than Plain Brown Wrapper/Poverty Pack Cannonball. Well done Wagonmaster. Jant - the Nova you posted is exactly the lines I was thinking along except for the fact that as chunkypeanutbutter intimated everyone knows that all Novas came with 396 big blocks, lumpy cams and extractors. My initial thoughts revolve around an AMT Piranha plus a Union Beetle body. But then there's that AMT Chevy Citation I don't know what to do with or the '70 Ford 4 door and the F1 chassis or the second Dodge crazy van with the twin engines. Or I could get a Prius body for the Fiero chassis or maybe do something with one of the Revell Trabant wagons, a Tamiya Mini Cooper and a rear mounted turbo... I suppose a Chrysler Turbine car isn't the best basis for a sleeper is it?
wagonmaster
Your welcome, Fred. I have always loved sleepers. I am planning on a 1:1 scale one know, my 84 Lincoln Towncar. So is an official announcement coming soon, gentlemen prepare to start your builds. Tim

zenrat
What was the base model the '87 Grand National was based on. Regal? I've got most of one left from a buying frenzy I went through a few years ago. No engine but that won't matter.

zenrat
There's always room for more than one but i was just thinking out loud and i've had a better idea.
