  1. Perhas we should all leave paccar alone with their precious trademarks and start modelling more Macks??
  2. the only good part of the kit is the bullbar - even the bumper is not deep enough. I made mine using an Italeri Mack superliner chassis and cab, and a resin RS700 bonnet from AITM, along with some KFS Budd Wheels. Dan Bruno has both surviving Real life Duck trucks here: http://www.stlouisdumptrucks.com/convoy_001.htm Here's my version: http://www.flickr.com/photos/24420024@N04/sets/72157613188403663/
  3. there was a model of it made, I remember seeing the pictures a year or so ago of a virtually fully chromed all over freightliner cabover. Think it was on truckmodeller.com. I don't think the pics are there are more though. There might be some pics of the real rig on hanks web site though???? andy-b-
  4. had another thought, there's a company on the internet called Granite State Collectibles, who produce custom stuff based on the 1:32/34 diecast trucks from New ray and first gear. Maybe they'd be interested as well??
  5. I for one would be difinitely interested. Over the past few months, I've been tinkering with 1:32/1:34 diecast trucks from Franklin mint and First Gear, and produced several custom builds. The only range of spares available is from Don Mills models, whith an excellent range of spares. Alas, he only does smaller items, not cabs or bodies. A range of resin parts would be great for all us custom diecast builders cheers andy
  6. i seriously want one of those!!! Now, where to park it..... Looks super, well done
  7. An odd scale, I know, but anybody out there know of any sleeper boxes in 1:34 scale, save me the trouble of scratchbuilding one??
  8. over the years, revell issued some nice versions of this kit, which might give you some ideas - the australian tractor with the huge bullbar and spoke wheels and tone guard looks nice, as does the oriental express with the extra driving axle. On another website somewhere was a guy who was planning a five axle , twin steer kenny, based (i think) on an alaskan tanker which was a straight truck towing a trailer - a huge project and the guy didn't seem to finish it?? sorry no pictures anywhere, but might give you some more dieas andy
  9. just remembered an articel in tmw about about a 1:25 scale wheeled crane/ loader type thing, designed as a load for a low loader. The crane/loader was (i think) scratchbuilt, but the wheels were huge lego wheels, and looked great. andy
  10. some nice looking trucks there. Welcome to the forum andy
  11. have you tried kit form services? he sometimes has some british military pattern heavy off road stuff, plus some of the auslowe big wheels too?? http://www.kitformservices.com/
  12. used to have this stuff in the uk called modelstrip, discontinued now, made (I think) by a company called gaugemaster, but might be still able to find it online - designed for plastics and stuff like that. Works really well on plastic, glass, rubber, resin, whitemetal... andy
  13. a lot of the vintage ones are 1:34 scale first gear. Quick question on the wxll garbage truck. Most of the chassis and engine work is now done, some more cosmetics left to do on the cab, and interior, and of course the wittke garbage body, which exists at the moment only on paper. My question is this: What's best for the wheels, I have a spare set of Budds, and a spare set of spokes, the front spokes are the extra wide ones. Just can't decide which looks best, though I'm leaning towards the budds, wondering what all you guys thought?? cheers andy new pics here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/24420024@N04/?saved=1
  14. thanks for the compliment. As for decals, I started to make my own, but home brand decals are awkward to put on over a coloured cab, and the cost of the ink can usually be put to better use buying new trucks!!. So it's usually a case of whatever is to hand. Some waste management decals will have to be aquired from somewhere for this beast though, which, by the way, has fought me all day. Had the main axles and the engine done in about an hour, it then took a further three to get two tiny rear cab supports to sit straight!!!
