sjordan2
It strikes me that a lot of the stuff that's molded onto firewalls would look much improved by scribing around the parts to "lift" them off the firewall surface and create more accurate detail with paint. Has anyone tried this with success, and can you show examples? I think this approach would also be beneficial to interiors, with deeper, crisper seams in seat pleats and around handles and armrests. highway
I've never tried that Skip, but that sure does sound like something that would be a good idea! I might just have to do some experimenting.
Guest
Haven't done it to wires on the firewall, but I scribe around my chrome trim around the windows. It makes a big difference at foil time and makes the trim look seperate.
Scale-Master
A light scribing as you describe works well to make a line to paint a sharp edge to, for example around a heater core housing, but going too deep can make it look heavy handed. Sorry, no photos handy to share visually.
