Here is a project that I have been planning for some time. The stumbling block was the extended hood to fit the AMT T500 and T501 kits. About 4 weeks ago I recieved my Extended Hoods from Eric at P & P vintage kits. Wow I was impressed. They are very clean cast, with minimal clean up required and good detaling. Well done Eric! Interestingly they also come in a kit form so that you can build them as a twin breather, single right breather or single left breather . This truck will be a twin breather. The engine will be a Clatterpillar 1693TA. For the uninitiated, the M of 359M stands for "metal frame" a combination of steel rails and aluminum crossmembers (or vice-versa). A was aluminum, S was steel. Old Albion Posted June 10, 2013 Author Share Posted June 10, 2013 Many Thanks for the kind comments. Tim, I was wondering about the kit frame and whether or not it was based on the Aluminium version. The frame rail section and the row of bolts at the front by the engine may be a bit of a clue? I quite like the paint scheme and am thinking of building a small fleet of these blue and white trucks. All will be Clatterpillar powered. Possibly a W900a with extended cowl with 1693TA or the R of G W900a with the 3408 or maybe both.. One thing I do need for this build is the door decals. On the 352 Pacemaker I used the "DC Trucking Dubuque Iowa" decals from the Transtar 4300 kit. Does anyone have any of these to trade?
