David G. Posted March 18, 2015 Author Share Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) It's been a long time since the last update, so it's time for an update. Â After looking at this spoiler for a while, I came to the realization that it just doesn't look right. It's too thin, too high and too far forward. Â I added some strip styrene to attempt to reshape the spoiler. Â More styrene added and it's time for sanding, shaping and filling. Â Here's what I'm working toward. Â Getting closer. For the most part, I'm pleased with the way it turned out. Just to recap- Â Here's what I started with. Â Here's where I wanted to go. Â And here's what I ended up with. Â Â I'm not sure if I am allowed to move this to the Under Glass section or if it must stay in the Die-Cast Desert. Â In either case, I'll be updating my personal web page soon with additional images from this project. Â Now, on to the next project. I'm a little late finding this but enjoyed going through the build start to finish. I'd like to ask one thing .. what is the orange goop you used to mask the insides of the wheels for painting? Heck, his build should've been in the "Model Cars - Under Construction" section. Once he cracked that diecast open and completely redid it, it indeed is a model. Note that the very beginnings of our hobby in the 1950s was guys who broke open promotional models and made their own creations. In my book, that's a model no matter what the medium.
