mnwildpunk
I have been wondering this for a bit which is the biggest debate? Ford Vs. Chevy, chevy vs. Dodge or dodge vs. Ford. I love all three all made good cars and trucks but just trying to figure out who fights the worst of the three
Ace-Garageguy
Frankly, I've never understood the sometimes rabid brand loyalty and "this one's better than that one" debates. All 3 have made some knockout cars, engines, transmissions and rear ends over the years, and all 3 have built some real loser turkeys. chunkypeanutbutter
I'd rather have a Triumph Vitesse or Dolomite Sprint than any of the classic big-threes.
Harry P.
It's Ford vs Chevy. Mopar is way above those two...
Jeff Johnston
I'm with Bill. Every car manufacturer has some real winners and some, not so much... I'm a car guy. If its cool, I dig it !
webestang
Ford vs Chevy. Dodge.....? Like they have a chance. And of course Chevy is always trying to catch up.....Mustang then Camaro, Ranchero then El Camino. Yes, I'm a Ford guy. I'd rather push my Ford than drive a Chevy.........Mopar or no car.....fine, I'll walk.

Tom Geiger
Silly... There was a guy in our model club who was offered a ride to a distant show. He declined because I have a Dodge Caravan and he wouldn't be seen dead in a non-Ford product. And I'd be damned to change my plans and drive my Crown Victoria to please him! My current fleet has cars from many manufacturers.... I have a Toyota Celica convertible, Dodge Grand Caravan (number 3 of these!), Plymouth Breeze (we had 2 of these), Geo Tracker (Suzuki titled as a Chevy), a Jaguar S Type and I recently purchased a Buick LaCrosse. My daughters have a Ford Fusion and a Fiat 500 convertible. Not trapped by any silly allegiance to any one manufacturer. If I see a car I like, I'm inclined to buy one. Repstock
The question is which debate is the biggest. I would have to say Ford vs. Chevy. I've had both and like them both. The only Mopar I have ever owned is a Grand Caravan. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that's not the type of iron we're really talking about here. vettecote
I have 3 Chevy's, a Dodge, a Pontiac, and a Ford! Never have a problem with them. Now on the other hand, I did own a Toyota. I was dumping a car payment into it just to keep it running(parts only I did my own work). But I also don't understand the severe brand loyalty with some people. Quit complaining about what someone else owns. You didn't pay for it!...Joe
Harry P.
I have a Toyota Celica... Dodge Grand Caravan... Plymouth Breeze... Geo Tracker... Jaguar S Type and I recently purchased a Buick LaCrosse. Not that you don't have the right to own as many cars as you want... but why do you own six cars? And what does your car insurance bill look like?!
10thumbs
I think in today's world there's isn't much difference in brand names anyway. If I had a 32 Ford hotrod, I'd be proud to have a SBF in it. A Cadillac motor would be a bonus, I'd trade the SBC though, for something different. I grew up in a GM environment, a very close Aunt/Onkel situation was Ford/Mercury. Then came the Mopars through external elements (brother-in-law). I still drift towards Mopar, for old times sake. Today, if i was living in USA, and wanted to buy a new car, I would pass, and buy a good used one that suits my needs, and I could care less what emblem was on the hood. Just USA though, no foreign stuff. Michael
Harry P.
Just USA though, no foreign stuff. Chryslers are built in Mexico and Canada... BMWs and Hondas are built in America... kind of hard to tell what a "foreign" car is these days...
Belugawrx
I think the Ford Chevy debate is the biggest Dodge just hangs back and makes the coolest IMHO Cheers
martinfan5
Just USA though, no foreign stuff. You know its a global car market?, the days foreign vs domestic are long gone, and you know that American and foreign car companys work together right ?, here, this should help get what I am saying across a little bit better. Tom Geiger
Not that you don't have the right to own as many cars as you want... but why do you own six cars? And what does your car insurance bill look like?! Because I like them? The Celica is in the garage at my NJ house, waiting until I get to restore it. Runs well, just needs body work and paint The Tracker and Jaguar (30,000 mile car) are my collector / fun cars The Caravan has a handicap seat in it for my in-laws, and I do use it to move things The Breeze was my wife's car, prior to that my daughter's car, and I use it to commute from PA to NJ to keep the miles off the good cars The LaCrosse is our new family car, my wife drives it daily. What does my insurance bill look like? It's 8 1/2" x 11" printed both sides, with a tear off tab at the bottom! actually around $2000, about half what I paid in NJ. All of my cars are paid for and old enough that it's not worth carrying collision. Today, if i was living in USA, and wanted to buy a new car, I would pass, and buy a good used one that suits my needs, and I could care less what emblem was on the hood. I buy low mile clean used cars. I just bought my wife a 2006 Buick LaCrosse CLX with 32,000 miles on it for $8000 cash. It looks and drives like a new $38,000 one. disabled modeler
I have owned or the family has owned about all of them....there is some things I hated about all of them and some things I loved about them all too. Personally I grew up in a pretty much GM family and have had great experiences with most we had...one was a 73 Chevy cargo van that got used and abused every day of its life still ran strong with 479,000. miles on it when I sold it.(no it was not a diesel) Edited December 22, 2014 by disabled modeler
10thumbs
Guys you're right about the global thing, but I like the idea of Dodge or Buick or Ford on the hood instead of some fling-fling stuff that I choose not to relate to. If I can buy a good US type car with US type name that I can I can relate to, then I'll do it in a flash. I'll even submit a personal type note about this theme. I own a weird Chrysler Crossfire, it has though some funky Mercedes Benz kind of suspension and the motor is not a V8....but it hauls azzzz....and it's a thrill to drive. Imagine this, I live a half mile from the Interstate, and I can drive pedal to the metal as traffic allows. It has a Chrysler Emblem. I like! 62rebel
i don't do the "global" thing, as i can't afford a new car and they just don't interest me at all. i'd rather do without a hand grenade in the center of my steering wheel, thank you. that said, i've owned nearly 200 cars, from nearly every make available in the US.... predominately Fords, though there's been something from nearly every brand spotted in my driveway at any given time. right now, i'm hunting a plain-Jane Ford fullsize between '60 and '90, for a daily driver. hopefully one without power windows, etc.... the simpler, the better.
