Wonderbread Kustomz
Yea I been starting on projects left and right, but I'm really getting into this one and wanna keep working on it... This was suppose to be a donor for my COE, but in all honesty, I've lost interest in that one... I can always get another donor... Back to the story... I found a pic on facebook one day of a 1:1 patina'd and laid completely out on the ground... So after building quite a few of these trucks ( this would be my 5th build) I decided it was time to put it under the knife... I had weathered the cab and hood back in 2012, and it sat in the box til yesterday... After searching the wheel stash, I found some nice center lines that would look perfect for this, and whitewall tires from Hoppin Hydros... I love the Hoppin hydros tires, I can fit so many rims into these without any issues and they work for me... I got a hole in the bed cutout for a notched frame out back... In order to lay the front out, I gotta remove the crossmember... I'll figure out how I'm gonna go about putting it back in later on into this build... The interior has been started and I have a shop rag in the seat as well as a mexican blanket I made...

Wonderbread Kustomz
Well, I have the bed painted... Gonna give it an acrylic wash to grime it up a bit... Jantrix , thanks for tellin me about scrubbing the body with rubbing alcohol... It really helped... Working on getting the bed floor painted at the moment... Wonderbread Kustomz
After about three passes with some acrylic washes, I got the body and bed floor weathered to where I like it... The drivers side doesn't have the texaco decal... Figured it would look cool with just one side done like that...
bobthehobbyguy
Great start. What method did you use for the rust for the bed and the cab?
Wonderbread Kustomz
Thanks Bob... For the bed, I used the salt technique... Followed by scrubbing the bed with rubbing alcohol... Then an acrylic wash... The cab, I had done about a year and a half ago. I used red oxide primer, and then used acrylic paints with a cosmetic sponge, then lightly scrubbed in places with rubbing alcohol to expose the different layers and showin through to the primer in places to have a rusted patina effect... bobthehobbyguy
Thanks. Nice idea to use two styles. Like the effect of the patina on the cab.

Wonderbread Kustomz
Thanks fellas... Got the tailgate done and the rear frame has been notched... I gotta do a little tweaking to the chassis to make sure the whole thing sits flat... My mistake when sanding and I accidentally warped the chassis a little... Maybe I tryin to be too perfect on this or my OCD kickin in... Does it look level as far as the bed goes? slusher
In all of the pictures James as far as I can tell it looks level. If it was off a little it would not be a hard fix. I am really hard on myself about the model being level...
