'41 Chevrolet Coupe

Recommended Posts

Only stock 41 Chevy I know of is a die cast by Danbury Mint. Testors does a Hot Rodded version too. RMR makes a BEAUTIFULLY CHOPPED 41 chevy that's VERY nice. Danbury Mints 41 is about 130 bucks or so, The Testors Die Cast is about 21 bucks at Micheals Craft Stores and RMR's is about 40 bucks or so. Hth. :D;)

The '41 thru '48 Chevys shared body shells, suspension, engines, frames, etc. The post WWII '46-'48 cars were facelifted '42s, and '41 was the first version of this particular model run. A starting point for a '41 might be the Galaxie '48 Chevy. It would take a fair bit of work, but it's possible. Though the Galaxie '48 is a fastback, the roofline from a Monogram '39 could be a start there.

I've been told by a couple of people "in the know" that Galaxie is close to releasing a '48 Chevy Coupe. If so, a '41 Coupe Conversion could very easily be done.

Hmmmm!

Well nice to know that there is couple of ways to do replica of my dads Chevy. That galaxie Coupe sounds very intresting and it could be the easiest way to start converion to '41. Almost the only things what needs to do for converion is modified front fenders and doors. Front grille an front lights could be very easy to modified one of those diecast kits parts. Thank's guys for all of that information. Here's Couple of pics of my dads '41 Chevy coupe Hot Rod.

This side profile pic shows that how those front fenders and doors had to look.

Galaxie is most definitely releasing the 46-48 coupe in the near future. Gary Schmidt brought a built up to Milwaukee NNL last April, looks good too. He said it was the 3rd test shot he had received and they want to make sure everything is right. They are also making some other minor changes to the molds to make them more builder friendly.

I built those two cars. The one with the flames had tail lights, trunk handle, outside mirrors and hood chrome missing. The tail lights and trunk handle were copied from the 48 Chevy from Galaxie and had the bottom part of the lights cut off for the 41. I made the outside mirrors from Evergreen stock and painted black. I used Evergreen stock for the hood chrome also. Also, one of the wipers was missing and I had to make that. The black one has parts from Monograms 53 Corvette on it to represent a hot rod from the early 50's. It also has primer on the front end and the bottom parts of the doors to represent body work in progress. :) Dan
