It's not like I'm I'm banging these things around. I primer paint and either dull or glosscoat my parts what can I do to prevent this? Blown03SVT Posted March 16, 2013 Share Posted March 16, 2013 I am assuming enamel paints? If that is the case they are much softer than laquers or acrylics. Maybe a bonding problem from the intial prep? It sounds rudimentary but the parts should always be washed with a good cleaner prior to prime and paint to remove oils and sanding dust. Do you paint and then mock up? Try to have all mocking and fitting done prior to painting to avoid handling so much and wearing the painted finish off. slusher Posted March 16, 2013 Share Posted March 16, 2013 It has happen to me with lacquer and enamel. l put tamiya masking tape on the main pickup area and it stoped it for me. it was only the body i was having problems with. when l finished l just peel off the tape...hope this helps. Blown03SVT Posted March 16, 2013 Share Posted March 16, 2013 Well if you have covered all the basic bass I would have to agree with Slusher's idea with masking the parts during assembly.
