Does anyone here happen to know if the front chrome rims for the hotrod version of the touring tub can be found in any later AMT kits? I know the back rims (chrome slots? Right?) can be found in other t kits along with the hotrod tub racing 4 cylinder parts. The rear tires on my build up are a set of piecrust tires. Are these correct rear tires for the hotrod T? Thank you for any info you can reply or PM with. Randy Oh by the way I dont have the box so I cant really see anything on the rear tire rim combo. I) Those chrome wire wheels: are they found in any other AMT kit possibly another one of thier T-buckets? I am missing one inner rim half. The front tires could be easily scrounged up from a dragster kit I assume. The rear rims look? like steel slots. And if they are those can be found in another issue of the touring car along with that Frontenac 4 cylinder. 2) Are those any particular brand or a no name slicks on the back. My build up has skinny pie cut slicks with steelie rims on it- may I asume the rear tires are the correct ones? What I want to accomplish is replicate the above box art. Just trying to get as close aspossible. If my first post confused you I apologize for not being clearer in my writing. That happens when you work 11 straight days at ten hours a day. jbwelda Posted January 28, 2012 Share Posted January 28, 2012 i always dug that XR6 thing, totally funky styling with those squared off fenders and the asymetrical styling of the body and all. i have a couple of these kits on my shelf too. never thought much about the tub but nowadays its looking pretty kool too, or at least potentially kool. tim boyd Posted January 28, 2012 Share Posted January 28, 2012 Fan....Thosee front wheels have a drum brake cast in them, like the front wheel of a 1960's motorcycle. I don't recall seing them in any other AMT kit from that era. They do look similar to (though I can not verify that they are the same as) the front wheels in the AMT 1962 Triumph Bonneville 'bike that was in the 1963 AMT Chevy Pickup kit and offered (with a few pieces in each kit) as a bonus in some of the AMT '62 annual kits. Better news on the rear wheels and the Fronty engine. The correct rears are Halibrands, fairly deep offest, with small windows, These wheels and the Fronty can be found in almost all the reissues of the '27T Tub kit, including the most recent Vintage Police Car version from Stevens International in 2007. Those wheels have always been a favorite of mine. I buit this kit just a couple of years ago. I'll see if I can post pictures, and someday I plan to get around to writing an article on it. tim boyd Posted January 29, 2012 Share Posted January 29, 2012 (edited) Fan...I just found in my references library a list compiled by Norm Veber (Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland) of the AMT Triumph Bonneville Motorcycle parts included in AMT's 1962 Annual kits. According to that list, all four wheel halves of the Triumph motorscyle were in the AMT 1962 Thunderbird Hardtop annual kit. Maybe you could find one of those kits (even a cheap gluebomb kit on eBay.com might have the part), in case the PIF referenced earlier does not materialize for some reason.
