This guy strapped a camera to his Ferrari and went blasting through Paris early in the morning. Pretty awesome video, missed shifts and all. This is a famous, short "cinema-verite" film by French Director Claude Lelouch, it's full title is C'etait un rendez-vous... It was in fact filmed using a Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9, with the sound of the director's Ferrari 275 GTB added later... It loses a bit of it's luster, now that I know it wasn't actually a Ferrari that had to hop the curb and drive down the sidewalk. I remember thinking how intense it was when I first saw it. This is a Serbian film called "The Belgrade Phantom", and it's based on true events dating from late summer of 1979, when a bored young man stole a white Porsche 911, belonging to a famous tennis player - one of few such cars in socialist Yugoslavia at the time, only to appear on the streets late at night and taunt the police with his driving... He even started announcing his appearances, anonymously calling them in over the radio, soon becoming a hero among masses who nicknamed him the "Phantom" and started gathering on the sidewalks to cheer him on during his "performances"...
