NEW Fujimi Porsche 911 GT3R Type B

Picked this up from MS Hobbies at a IPMS show this past weekend. Fujimi has two kits available...the Type A and the Type B. The only difference being the decals in the kit. Fujimi has incorrectly called this a GT3R and it's really a GT3R Cup Car. Excellently molded kit. Not the typical Fujimi race car. The interior is correct for a race version unlike their usual of taking a street car and turning it into a race car. The kit would be a good starting point to convert to a GT2 but the whole front of the car would have to be reworked as well as the rear engine intake. Would be nice to someone come out with a photoetch set and different decals. The Racers Group Porsches would be a good car to start with.

Here's what's in the box.

Decals are a little flashy for me. I'm an Anime fan, but not on race cars.

Will have this in the Workbench Section when I finish a couple of other kits.

Mine came in the mail last evening....I also got the "B" version. I like the look of it so I will do it as the kit supplied decals call for. I am not a fan of Anime, but I love the way this looks with the bright colors and animation characters....after my Monster Energy Corvette, I guess I have a thing for cute girls on the hood of a race car. These are limited edition runs, and on Hobby Link Japan (HLJ.com) they show these as sold out and discontinued so these will not be on everyones shelves. My only two complaints with the kit is the lack of engine detail, which seems to be the norm with Japanese kits these days, and the lack of English on the instruction sheet. I will have to "wing it" on a few colors and way some of the decals are cut to fit......I think I can handle it though.

Sorry to correct you Brendan but this kit is titled correctly as the GT3 R and is not the CUP version as you stated.

The 911 CUP version differs to GT3 R in that it has LED Day Running lights below the headlights not the mesh air intake as on the GT3 R. There are also some minor body differences i.e. the front splitter is different on the CUP, the CUP has a different rear diffuser and the CUP doesn't have the mesh air ducts behind the rear wheels. Also the CUP also has a sligthly different interior to the one in this kit and is misssing the dry brake fuel fillers in the front hood.

However there is one error in this kit. The upper air intake below the headlight should be as per the box art and shouldn't have the vertical bar which is present on the moulded body supplied in the kit. Other than that it's most definitely a GT3 R.
