MAGNUM4342
NASCAR guys, i'm wondering about a nascar model kit anomally. MPC did the Lennie Pond PEPSI Chevelle Laguna S3. It was one of the last, if not THE last kit in thier 1970's nascar series. Here's the question. Why does the kit have #39 on the decals when all the reference pictures I can find of the car have #54? Furthermore, the PEPSI lettering in the kit is in PEPSI blue, while the car itself had white lettering? Was this a licensing issue?
iBorg
Was this kit released as part of the Cannonball Run series? If so, maybe it was #39 in the movie. If not, I don't have a clue (of course I've often called clueless.) Edited May 23, 2012 by iBorg
MAGNUM4342
It was eventually released as the Cannonball Run Hawaiian car but was #1. The issue Ihave is molded in blue and comes in a Pepsi box.
MadKaw6
If I remember right those are generic decals. I don't remember Lennie Pond ever driving a # 39.
Steve Rocketwheels Buckner
Is it possible that he changed teams, went to a different owner but took the Sponsor with him after they planned the kits release ...they are assigned the numbers by Nascar by each team and owner.
