djmcguire Posted January 25, 2015 Share Posted January 25, 2015 This is a '34 Ford Street Rod that my 10 year old daughter wanted to build. After seeing the interior of my 'in-progress' Jeep Rubicon she wanted to try her hand at flocking the interior. You can't see it but it's definitely got some 'carpet' in there and she did a great job on it by herself using Elmer's clear glue and black flocking material. The only thing she needed help on was the stickers, which had to be stretched around some of the curves to get them to lay down. Looks like she'll be doing an actual glue-together Titanic next... rmvw guy Posted January 25, 2015 Share Posted January 25, 2015 (edited) That's a good one to start on. Looks like she did it right. Another good one is the snap '57 Chevy, also the '63 Corvette. I tried one on my grandaughter and she put the flames going toward the front. Started her on a glue kit and wound up doing it myself. She is only 8. I started building models at 8 but, the 1/25 scale cars started when I was 10, same age as your daughter. I bet she can do a glue kit with your help. They were the Make-N-Take kits Revell donated for the GoodGuys Rod & Custom Association events last year. The kids at our events LOVED THEM!!! Your daughter did a good job! Keep her interested and keep her building. There are SO MANY much, much worse things out there for a young lady to get interested in. She's also done a Star Wars 'Snap-Tite', a helicopter and a Ferrari LaFerrari and Mustang convertible. She has no aversion to the putting things together and was pretty handy with a torque wrench by 8 when we re-built a Yamaha YSR50 for her.
