  1. So its been a long time since I have been on the forum, or touched a model. Moving, work, etc.... But last month I got the bug to build something again. The thing is, so much of my tools and work desk which I use to have all set up are in storage. So I got the basic stuff out and then went to Home Depot and got a scrap piece of wood they had for a buck and pick out a kit to build. It is box stock. I did remove all the chrome minus the wheels and add some BMF. Other than a couple scratch built pieces to help support the roof wing, its box stock. I did have to put in some work making changes to the front axle due to some minor errors the parts cake with. I also had to cut the rear frame off where the top of the rear shocks mount and tweak it so it would go together right. Ok....enough of the boring you! Hopefully the pictures will come out ok on here. If not I will work on it for next time.
  2. Nice build! I am finally getting back on a build I am working on, can you send the link to where you got the wheels and tires from? Thanks!

I did a lot of work fixing the body before I decided to do this WIP so I didnt document that body work. I did a lot on the front end before finding a picture that I think I am going to use to re-do that work. The car didnt come with a radiator. So I flipped the piece between the front fenders that had a top piece molded in to look like the top of a radiator and filled in the gaps. This is the picture I found which I think I am going to use to re-do the front end work
  5. I am posting this WIP here instead of the other section. If anyones not ok with that I can move it. This is my first WIP and I will try to keep a fair pace with this build. I dont work on any build everyday so keep in mind the pace wont be that fast. I havent decided which way to go on this car as far as a specific car to model it after. So I might just have fun with it and make what comes to mind. With that said here is a little bit of the progress. First, the engine. I used BMF on the air cleaner but might change ot to black.
  6. Very nice!! I always liked this car.
  7. By the way, Im glad you said the wheels you are going to use, I have been looking for a site that has the right ones and had not found the right ones until I checked out the ones you referenced!
  8. I havent decided which car I am going to base this on. But given that I really like the color on the car above I might just go with that color since I like it so much and use the decals that came with the kit and just have fun with it, I would like to base it on an actual car besides Bobby's car if I can find enough photos to give me the kind of detail I would liek to have if I went that route. I have been working on correcting body issues and building the engine and will try and get the WIP post going early next week.
  9. Im going to do some of the same, alot of scratch building. If yours is like mine check the fit for everything as you go. Im sure you do this anyways, but I found the engine is too tall, basic stuff that if a kid was to build it things would be difficult. Thats what gets me, I like to think a kid could build a kit and have no major issues that would prevent them from completing it. Ive started taking pics and will start a WIP thread soon. Maybe you can follow and use ideas and share ideas as I go.
  10. Thanks! I really like the color on this car. I was trying to decide what color to use and I think you just helped me decide!
  11. I am building a '72 Monte Carlo stock car kit from AMT. I have been searching all over trying to find good engine bay and other pictures. Anyone out there have good pictures or can point me in the right direction? Any help would be great! I have found some of the Bobby Allison stuff but nothing really good detail wise. By the way, this kit is pure junk!! But I am going to turn it into a WIP post on here for my first one to share the work. More on that later. By the way, the wheels for this dont even fit the rims!!! Too small!!! Thank in advance for any help!
