I'll start with the pics, not much, just showing the tires im going for, and the two stances i'm choosing between.

IMG_1467.jpgIMG_1448.jpg

I think i prefer the "nose-down" one more, right?

As for paint, im going for grey primer, with black rims (steelies).

And the engine, i i'd like to put a blower on there, and i've got a 1/32 (?) maybe bigger scale toy-car engine with one on it, i think i can get it to look in-scale, some reference photos and pointers would be nice, since i don't really know that much about compressors...

I'm also a bit unsure of how to fit my rims into my tires here, the steelies ive got are about 1-1½ mm to small in diameter (sorry, don't know what that is in inches..)

Will hopefully have it painted by monday-tuesday.

Thanks for reading!

I have to tell ya, the 1967 Impala would have to rank as my all time favorite automobile. Never before and probably after have I seen so much talent built into one car. Just look at the interior for instance. There were "No non sense round dials which were right in front of the driver. The quarter panels blended with the top with just enough crease to reinforce the two panels together meanwhile, the front end reminded us of the Rivera that preceded it. Its power plant had some of Detroit's brightest stars that had given us both the 327 and the new 427 "Big-Block" Even the four door variants looked like their two door counterparts. All that and the fact that the average mechanic could easily tune one up at the corner service station. Hey G M you want to know why I won't buy one of you're latest offerings? Well could it be maybe the fact that I can't buy something sense able like this anymore. Leave the dang blower off man keep the hood on it . Lowering this car makes it look to heavy for it's suspensioin Yes, by all means, keep the steelies, add narrow red wall tires. Think about it............................... Ed Shaver

I have to ask since it's a "dirt road burner", how much "E-100" are you giong to put in the trunk :P

Just a kegs of some completely ligit and perfectly normal premium home-made fully ekologic 65 percent rye, 30 percent corn and 5 percent malted barley fuel. (thats the reicpe for the completely ligit and perfectly normal fuel-mash)

:lol::lol:

Jaffa that blower is going to be too small it appears. If you can find the AMT 68 El Camino street machine kit from a few years ago, it has an excellent B&M dtyle underhood blower for the big block Chevy that will be a drop fit. That way you can keep the stock hood.

Those springs look great! Lower it & put the tires & rims you like on it. I'm guessing you're after a semi modern style build. If so, those tires will probably look about right.

Thanks for the praise and tip , but i kinda wanted to cut a hole in the hood for the appearance of the car, and the hood in the AMT "rides magazine" -67 Impala wich i'm using doesent feature a stock hood anyways, i will change that tho.

And with me just having two more weeks of work, and a salary of 5$ an hour, i'm not sure i can really afford to buy alot of stuff right now... :(

I think i will be cutting up the blower to six pieces after a grid, and glue them together with some material in between each piece, if just the intake-part (? i don't know what it's called.. ;) ) looks in-scale

As a progress update:

the body is in the brakefluid bath, due to problems with the primer, i was trying a new brand, and it didn't seem to lay down smooth and flat, if i it layed flat it was'nt smooth, and if it was smooth it was satin, after a few un-satisfying coats, and about four mist-coats to get it flat, the emblems and details started to get a little rounded, and it got full of dusties, a few fingerprints and i just got in a bad mood about it and started doing rash things...... no further comments on that.. :D:lol:

Basicly i want the finnished thing to be a flat-grey, rusted beater, so it's pretty important that it is flat...

Well, i'm not really goung for the styilish look here, more like something that looks like it was built in the Duke boys neighbours barn (or by all means my barn), used for outrunning cops and jumping creeks out in Dixie, pulling a trunk full of shine!

Please don't hate me :(

Ok, looks like i've got a bit of an update here!

I messed up the paint, wich almost discouraged me to continue, but thanks to "Justadoodz" post about his -57 Chevy at that time i was inspired to continue anyways, this project would'nt be alive today if it wasn't for that post!

Got the paint wear finnished, a few dents made, and some missing trim and the decals!

I'm not completely satisfied with the bulletholes, but i'm hoping to get them a little more realistic with some dremel work and a little paint at the right places..

Ok, needless to say, i'm not a master photographer, but here goes..:

IMG_1497.jpg

my first attempt of weathering interior, i'm mostly just shooting from the hip, hoping for the best...

IMG_1507.jpg

Thanks again to "Ledsled merc", your oics really helped me!

As for the blower, ive decided to go for a dual Holley setup instead, set off with a shaker hood, i'll be off to make a mold and cast it today.

Thanks for reading, i'll probably not be able to check in for a while tho...

Wow this car is neat ! I can just see Betty Lou's daddy sittin on the porch swing in his dirty overalls with a 12 gauge in his lap when you go to pick her up in this thing to take her to the " Dew Drop Inn". Looks fantastic. When weathering interior I have seen guys cut thin strips of aluminum tape to place on the seats to look like a duct tape repaired tear. But it looks great to me. Can't wait to see more.

Thanks for the replies and the praise!

dremmeled down the edges around the wheel arcs and the rockerpanels to look a little more like thin sheetmetal.

Heres some more pics!

Showing the missing doorlock, and the black trim (the rust looks kinda funny due to the cameraflash... :D ):

IMG_1599.jpg

The engine (the flash wrecked this photo as well, it seemed to shine right throught the metalizer, showing the first coat of paint on the carb and the manifold :lol:;) ) btw; the manifold was made up from the stock one, and a mopar manifold in chrome, to look like an adapter for the dual holleys.:

Finally some descent suspension shots:

What tha hell is this supposed to look like anyway??...:

Ok, time for an update!

Now i have no idea why the "brush-applied-primer" turned out as bright orange on the photos, i mixed it from gloss bright orange and flat brown-red -ish it turned out great, but on the photos... meh..

IMG_1649.jpg

IMG_1643.jpg

IMG_1641.jpg

IMG_1601.jpg

IMG_1621.jpg

I shot the interior with flash, wich led to some shine-through on a few places, and made the detail on my little CB-radio not show, but here goes:

IMG_1609.jpg

IMG_1611.jpg

The little beercan was a fun curbside project in its own, only wish the clearcoat wouldnt have smudged the red...

IMG_1626.jpg

Never saw anyone do a radiator with corrosions, never owned a car wich didn't have, so:

IMG_1648.jpg

Didnt have any descent materials for making the rims bigger, so i had to get creative:

IMG_1605.jpg

I used home made putty, made from scrap styrene and terpentine in a can.
