Well, Big Lots has its own house brand for hardware and tools, Pro-Source, and looky what I found yeaterday while she was browsing the linens: Yeah guys EIGHT BUCKS! 168 pieces! Drill bits down to 1/64, grinders, polishers, sanders, wire polishing wheels, felt polishing heads, sanding and cutting discs, and six spare collets! Holy moley, you can't even get a deal like this in Wally World! Wish I'd known about this a couple of weeks ago when I NEEDED one of those micro-size grinding bits! Those make short work of getting rid of molded-in exhaust systems! So, if there's a Big Lots! store near you, git on down there. Let the wife know just how good their prices are on housewares and household goods, even furniture....! Then - "Hey hon, look what I found! Only Eight Bucks! That's less than the price of one of my MODEL KITS! AND I can use it around the house.....!" (My wife is a crafter. I couldn't pull that on her - and live!) Seriously, its a good deal for $8. ViperDave Posted July 12, 2007 Share Posted July 12, 2007 Last year I bought a Mechanics brand Dremel at Advance auto parts on sale for $20. It comes in a nice case with 165 parts and attachements. It also has the wand. I have a dremel hanging from each end of my work bench and one in the drill press but for that price I had to get one. You will get pieces that you cannot use on oplastic, such as the "stone pieces" but you are still getting a bargain. HOWEVER ............if you really want to use your Dremel ( or the equivelent ) you really need a foot control. With this accessory you turn your grinder on to full speed. Hold your model with one hand, the grinder in the other hand and "step on the gas". Instant control, fast, slow or "half-fast.. Foot controls can be found in sewing machine shops. I got a set of those a while back and on the first use the Pink stones exploded, scared me half to death. Make sure you have eye protection. The drill bits seemed to work pretty good.
