docf225
This has been a marathon project. I tried to have it ready for NNL East LAST Year. Had to strip and paint the can three times. The Boom was a nightmare; it took three shots to get paint to stick aswell. Finally looking like a truck now. Might have it ready for the IPMS Nationals in VA in August. Jim B
Nice looking boom truck you've got there. I like the weathering of the wood on the bed.
Old Albion
Interesting looking truck! Nice colour combination and I agree the bed looks good, is it made from individual planks? Great Work So Far. Good Luck with the rest of the build!
docf225
Thanks for the input guys. THe bed is individual Basswood planks weathered with Age it Easy from Micromark. I use bioth colors to get the characteristic "grey" of untreated wood open to the elements. The model is based (loosely) on a fleet of trucks that used to drop off fork lift truck batteries for recycling at my former place of employment. They used the wooden beds to get around the electrolyte in the batteries eating a steel deck.
SpreadAxle
Looks good so far. Hopefully, you have better luck with it.
Semi Trailer Mechanic
What's goin' on... Looks good! Is that a RD conversion hood?
docf225
What's goin' on... Looks good! Is that a RD conversion hood? The hood is a resin piece I picked up from Tim Sherman couple years ago at NNL East.
