Watertown
Apologies if this topic has already been addressed. I see many WIP posts where folks indicate that they'll apply a clear coat after BMF'ing their model. I've never done it this way, fearing that the BMF would react with the clear, or worse, that I'd accidentally catch an edge and tear some of the foil off with the clear coat while polishing and waxing. I'm curious as to what the general recommendation(s) might be, pro or con. Thanks in advance.
Watertown
I retract the question, seeing that it has already been asked and answered. Clear, then BMF.
W-409
I've done both ways. Usually I try to clear coat before BMF, but sometimes I have to do it the other way. In Stock Car builds where race numbers often are installed over chrome trim, I have to BMF before decals, which means that I have to BMF before clear coat, 'cause I always clear coat over decals. Another reason to BMF before clear is if the kit that I'm building has very light chrome trim so that they could get hidden under clear coat making BMF almost impossible. The end result looks the same, except that the BMF will stay better on place if it's under clear coat. Though I've never had a problem with BMF flaking off even if it was installed after clear coat.
