HALLOWEEN 2012--If You Celebrate It, Here's A Fun Proposition

Folks, a young man here on the forum, came up with a brilliant idea for everyone, but also those participating in the TZH SQUAD CARAVAN.

You can dress up as your favorite driver, or your best driver/driving personna. You can use Hollywood influences, your favorite characters, car movies, WHATEVER you can think of. Think about it, there's plenty of time, and then you can post pictures of your costumes here or if you build a matching model car to go with your outfit, you can double the fun. This is your time to really let loose and have some unbriddled fun.

For those building Steampunk, Sci-fi, Mad Max, or any type futuristic/Fantasy vehicle, this is your chance to really come up with a neat costume. Age should not be a factor. LOL!

This will put it in a better perspective:

Let me know if you want to play and make this year extra special for Holloween 2012 and the forum.

Well, I don't know how old you are now, but you know what they say, it's never too late to keep having fun.

Besides, it will be a different moment for everyone in and around the infamous date. I know some people don't celebrate Holloween and that's fine, everyone is welcomed to volunteer to participate or not.

Both side are respected here.

Rob, I know it's early, but that's why everyone will have plenty of time to prepare.

Imagine, if you will, a famous car (racecar, movie car, etc) and the kind of costume you can prepare for it. The best example, of course, would be something from the Munsters, say, if you wanted to play Grandpa. Or whatever.

You can build the car and then get in the costume. Anybody thinking SPEED RACER, RACER X, etc?

It will be loads of fun!

I usually have ended up waiting until the week before Halloween to prepare a costume...for 10+ years I've gone to a friend's Halloween party in Denver...adults, plenty of adult beverages and music..can be fun. I went as Dilbert one year, Tony Soprano another year, Eminem one year, a member of Devo one year, etc...

Rob, I know we all have, but what I think will be different this year is if everyone builds a car and then imagines said car's driver. What he or she would wear. It doesn't have to be a model around the Holloween theme.

You can build, for example, a rat rod and dress up like Jimmy Shine, or build a custom ride and dress up as your favorite customizer. One cigar, and you can instantly turn into a Bill Hines!

Hey, John (and others)... you already know this-but if you're not interested, here's a clue: don't click on the thread. Ignore it. Save yourself the indignation and suffering.

Harry, you are, of course, correct. I was just having fun with what I see as the absurdity of it... just my op. Won't bring it up again.

Again, this was not my idea, but someone mentioned it to me and I thought it was brilliant and totally different, and for those who are going through a building slump, this might just help them get out of it.

Oh, and the model can be in any scale, I don't see why not.

Sorry, didn't mean to jump down your throat. I'm just a little tired of the BS I've been getting via PM from a certain group of "disgruntled" forum members who insist that the forum needs to operate the way that THEY want it to operate. That, of course, is an impossibility.

That group does not include you. So again, sorry to jump on you. It's just been a long week on the moderating side of things.

Well, they have a point..there is a lot of nonsense on these forums...it's getting close to Spotlight Hobbies as far as the signal to noise ratio...

You do realize that your membership here is voluntary and not mandatory?

You don't like it here? Fine, you have every right to your opinion. So go somewhere else. No hard feelings, that's just simple logic. Why hang out at a forum that you don't like and complain about it when you have the option of going to any of dozens of other forums that you might like better?

Folks, the intention here is not to get anyone who is not interested, or who doesn't celebrate Holloween for any particular reason riled up, and Harry my apologies if this sort of thread is making your moderating life a bit difficult.

This thread in no way is intended to reflect any religious views or disrespect, etc . . . it's mostly shared in the most genuine spirit of building models and having some fun, that's all.

This is also one of those ideas that includes all possible interest you might have in model cars, shiny or otherwise . . .

Rob, there are literally thousands of threads on this part of the forum as well as others, there's plenty of room for you to stretch out your intellect and model building interests.

I want to know when was the last time Doctor Cranky rained on your parade or was dismissive of one of YOUR threads?

Mutual respect and co-existence, chap, it's the way people live out in the real world.

No hard feeling, just plenty of choices.

So who's gonna be dressed up as Doctor Cranky

Rick, EYEGORE wants to be Doctor Cranky!

Okay, just bringing up the idea now in case you want to start planning, etc . . .

So to simplify matters:

This is not a contest or a community build, this is just relaxed all the way.

You can dress up and or build a matching model that has something to do with your costume.

Oh, and I guess it should also include single, dual, multiple wheel type vehicles, this way we don't leave out folks who want to do motorcycles, trikes, and any other type of vehicle.

I'm not the one who has made over 9000 posts in what, 6 months? I've only done about 2500 in about 5-6 years (or however long the forums have existed)...it just seems like you are out to completely dominate the forums...

Don't fixate on the number of posts, we all know that is meaningless. It means nothing.

It also means that Doctor Cranky gets excited about sharing some of the building fun with everyone here, always ideas meant to be taken or not.

Check out the top 10 out of 20 top posters list. Learn the list well. Do you jump in and remind all these other folks they are posting too much?

Just curious, why single me out?
