WILLYS DEAL!!!

I started another Deals Wheels style Car, based on the Revell 41 Willys Kit.

I had a couple slightly cut-up Willys bodies to start this project with.

The first body had the roof cut off and was sectioned about 1/4". I shortened it by about 2".

Next I sepperated the front fenders from the body with a razor saw and X-acto knife.

Then I narrowed the front end by 1/2".

Next I glued the narrowed front end body back on to the body.

More Construction Photos!

I shortened the roof about 1/2" and cut off the cowl/windshield and narrowed it by 1/2".

Next I wedge-cut the roof section down to fit between the windshield and the back section.

Heres a photo of the major body panels glued back in place and some of the rough sanding has been done...

I sectioned the hood about 1/4" and shortened the top half about 3/4". The lower section of hood was sepparated into 5 pieces and fit in place.

Next, I want to add some width to the rear fenders and make the grill opening a little bit wider.

I am working on adding width to the rear fenders.

I first cut the rear fenders from a second Willys body.

I tried to fit the rear fenders and found that they would fit better if they were shorter...

I shortened each fender by 1/8".

Here is the fit after shortening the fenders.

Before I attached the fender add-ons, I marked a line on each side where the fender fit. Then I made a line about 1/8" down from that line. I will remove the plasic below the second line before attaching the fenders.

After removing 1/2" from the width of the front end, the grill opening was also reduced by 1/2".

I carved out an extra 1/4" on each side of the opening and returned it back to the original size.

Now, thats more like it
