Hi you all, I can't remember what the name of the other thread in here was that I had going (I looked back quite afew pages an couldn't find it).. so I'm starting a new one for this project.

Let me give alittle info about the model project here please, I'm helping a friend that is like a brother to me out by building this model for him. He is the one that had track down most of the parts for on it really, Alittle thanks goes out to Romel (a follow board member we all know) as well for the info on some things too. This project means alot to my brother you can say as his uncle loose to drive truck too before he past away over 6 years ago. My brother stop building models when his uncle past. He doesn't have the patantice to build models you can say.. so he came to me an asked me if I would build a semi truck model for him back in 2009. Something that he really wanted but he didn't have patantice to build a model though as he has a family an things going on. I asked him quite afew things about what he had in mind. I'm not going to say to much yet about the project to leave the cat out of the bag (LOL). But he wanted something that was special to him an remind him of his uncle that was like father to him. The project is alittle tricky I might say (LOL) even to me. He wanted the model to have working things an lights as well an asked me if I could do it.. I told him I could give it my best shot.

The sleeper when he got it was a issue right off. The sleeper he ordered was not really in the correct size so I had to chop it two times an get it into the correct size. The cab was a story in itself also (LOL). Talk about weak plastic. The frame of the chassis was also a slight issue that I took care of. I have built rig models before but nothing like this kit though on it's kit parts. The kit he got was an Italeri one.. he pick the kit out.. not me. He's a big Mack fan an loves the Mack's. But the model I'm working on building for him is a Australian model but being built as an U.S mack version though meaning instead of it being right hand drive like Australian is (I guess) , it's U.S. style on the Left side.

Anyways, here is afew photos of the progress so far.

Thanks you all for the comments, to be honest when my brother seen the stuff yesterday himself an seen the working brake pedal he also said I was insane too  for that move.

Here is a making of the rear leafs in metal form an not plastic. I'm using the plastic as a shaper an jig

Wow! You're making a meal out of this Mack! I like everything about it already. Thanks for showing the door hinges, that is going to help me on future builds. This project is going to get more and more interesting... It's ovious you have a plan for this, have you decided on colors for the cab and frame yet? Just curious! Outstanding work up to now... I have seen the start of this build before, you enlarged the sleeper cab to fit the 1:24 scale driver's cab, I think this will have real aluminum wheels from KFS also, am I mistaking?

Your welcome for me showing the door hinges. But the door hinges are alittle hard to build to be honest. The ones you see here are like my 5th set I think I made for this very project. The reason being is the cab is not really straight up an down like most cabs are. This cab is at a slant meaning the top of the door where the top hinge is fasten at is level but the bottom door area goes out wards. There for the bottom door hinge isn't fasten to the wire rod at all it just slides on it to help the door give the clearance it needs to open an clear the cab as well at the front of the door area. If the bottom was glued like top was the door wouldn't open to well at all if maybe at all. Yes your correct, the project is going to get more and more interesting from here out. My brother came up with the paint scheme he wants this model to have, that will also be interesting for me to do too I might add LOL. The frame he wanted gloss black. He is how ever letting me call some of the shots also on the project too. You are also correct about the sleeper, yes I did enlarge the sleeper to fit the 1/24 scale drivers cab (sleeper was pose to be or been a 1/24 scale one from the get go when my brother bought the sleeper). Yes this model will feature the real aluminum wheels from KFS as well. But I might have to track down new bolts an nuts for in the rims though (the ones that came with the rims rusted while in the baggy). So I been looking at Scare Hardware for that stuff to replace the bolts an nuts maybe.
