It's many first for me, including the first finished model in close to 15 years, the first weathered model I have attempted, my first time using PE parts, and my first Diorama. Aparently my photo files are too large to upload, so you can see the rest of them here:http://s1146.photobucket.com/albums/o533/Intmd8r01/ ; ) -For additional detail, I used garbage bag ties for the fuel and brake lines. I just stripped the paper and super glued them in place. -The hood hinges were scratch built using left over plastic trees and throtle return springs from Model Car Garage. -For the oil leaks, I used Indian Ink. The engine "gunk" is Indian Ink brushed over putty. -The base is what's left over from and Acrylic display case that had an unfortunate shelf accident. I sprayed it with Ashphalft undercoating. No happy with the result, I took a quilted papper towel to it while it was still wet to give it a more realistic texture. Next I misted grey primer and then a little flat black over that. I couldn't be more thrilled with how it turned out! -For the debris, I was going to purchase some Diorama leaves at $12 a bag. Upon closer inspection, I realized that it didn't look any different than fish food, so I went to my local Dollar store and purchased some Goldfish Flakes. The base looks unfinished to me, but I haven't seen any sort of extras that would make it more complete yet. Perhaps something will jump out at me later. It fell off my bench and I acutally stepped on it as you can see from the virtical crack down the middle. To salvage it, I used a sharp knife for the lines (or cracks) and cut a hole into what was left of the windshield. Not at all what I intended, but I guess it turned out OK. Intmd8r Posted June 2, 2012 Author Share Posted June 2, 2012 (edited) *Updated Pics* I felt something was missing. So I added a broken and weathered fence and spare hood. The hood was left over form the kit and the fence is made of popsicle sticks and balsa wood for the fence posts. Ink was applied to the wood and lightly sanded for the weathered look. Steve that looks great i love all of the little things you did to her. whats funny is i am currently working on three franklin mint diecasts of the same car one for a customer and two from parts cars i had lying around. i will post them when completed. cranky will flip when he sees yours. the green door is a cool touch. you now have rust fever.lolkeep up the great work. I am especially fond of that cracked window =) Could someone un-noob me? What does PE stand for?
