Removing metallizer powder

Recommended Posts

I have the stuff on order from C1 in the UK (missed their table at NNL-East until after they'd sold out of the metalizer), but from all descriptions I suspect that the metalizing powder somehow becomes rather embedded into the painted surface itself, which could well mean stripping the body (or parts) with whichever stripper works with that paint, and repainting. Just a couple of pennies worth....

The first photo shows the results I got with the metallizer applied over grey primer. Not bad, but a bit too dark for my taste. (My camera didn't do a very good job of picking up the color.) I'm told I can get better results applying it over light blue paint. I'll try that some other time. Removing the metallizer was no different than stripping paint.

The rest of the photos show the parts I sprayed with Krylon Metallic Original Chrome, also over grey primer. Pretty good, I think. I'm going to stick with that for now.
