  1. Ok cool. thank you Why do I need both types of filters?
  2. Thank you for your advice and guidance. It seems many of you think highly of Paasche so I ended up buying the Paasche Talon kit. I cant wait to get it and start learning and playing by the way, what is the best type of moisture filter to get?
  3. can someone please give some thoughts on the above post? I am really anxious to buy an airbrush. Also I found an Iwata Revolution CR (I think thats what it was) for 70 bucks. How is this AB compared to the others mentioned above?
  4. What do you think of the Badger 360? It allows gravity feed and then you rotate the tip and it allows the use of a siphon feed jar. Thoughts? I havent been able to find any gravity feeds with removable cups yet. Anyone know of any? Also what do you think of the airbrushes on ebay like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/MASTER-G34-DUAL-ACTION...bayphotohosting and this: http://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-New-Fengda-Gravi...id=p3286.c0.m14 I like the price but I question the quality of the spray from it. Anyone know anything of the no name brands on ebay? I really want a gravity feed dual action brush.
  5. Hello, long time lurker here Over the years I have tried my hand at airbrushing. I have been using an old airbrush I got at a garage sale and a cheap one I got off line for 15 bucks. I guess they have worked "ok" I want to get a decent airbrush though. I looked at Itawa and wow.. I just cant afford that much lol I was hoping to get some good advice from everyone here on what I can and should get for 100 or less. I have a little blue paasche compressor which I bought last year though I have barely used it because my airbrushes are so problematic. my current airbrushes use a side feed or bottom feed. I was thinking gravity feed would be better? with a small attached cup on top? Im honestly not sure... it just looks easier... yes? no? Please just treat me as a newb because I honestly no nothing about all this. I just really want to learn and do the many kits I have sitting boxed up some justice Thank you, Jared
  6. also what would be used to thin the clear epoxy paint?
  7. can urethanes be airbrushed? I am assuming so since the question was about airbrushing. Can you recommend a good brand please?
  8. I have a question... I have a friend who wants to airbrush with clear epoxy paint... 1. is it possible to thin it enough to do this and 2. what would be used to thin epoxy paint? and last but not least... 3. would this ruin, or damage, the airbrush? has anyone ever used epoxy to airbrush with? the reason my friend wants to use epoxy paint is to get a cystal clear super hard durable finish any and all help would greatly be appreciated
  9. Looking great Bill! I love how you cut out the grill. By the way, the stand you have it on... I love that! Is that something you made or is it something that can be purchased?
  10. I just recently purchased the AMT International Payhauler 350 kit and ups dropped it off tonight. I just wanted to say that I opened it up and WOW what a nice looking kit! Im very impressed and hope I can do it some justice! If anyone has built it and has any tips or info/referrences to share, Id greatly appreciate it! Id photo all the sprues and do a review on the kit like I see being done on here but I dont believe I am experienced enough to do any sort of review hehe Though if anyone would like t o see the sprues and parts I will happily photo them
  11. I have been kind of lurking and posting random questions and comments for a week now but I figured a proper introduction was perhaps the way to go. Im Jared and am 39 and live in SC, USA. As a kid I built some plastic but my father use to freak out on me for building plastic and always wanted me to stick to building wood.. balsa planes specifically so I pretty much did exactly that until the last few weeks. Several weeks back my 10 yr old niece saw an old ford p/u model at walmart and she just had to have it. Next thing I know, Im building a plastic model again and enjoying it a lot! Now I am hooked and realizing that I have a lot to learn about building with plastics being as my familiarity is with balsa and tissue. Im gung ho tho and determined to learn all I can. I hope yall dont mind the 100000000 questions I will probably have as time goes on lol Anyway, I have become quite fond of this forum and really enjoy relaxing and reading and seeing all the amazing work you all do every night after work! Thank You, Jared
  12. Wow thats gonna be cool How did you make the centerlines? And what are your trade mark BFG's? I'm pretty new to the forum and the hobby so I have no clue what youre talking about lol
  13. I like the body a lot... but boo on the chassis and interior. I like Mr O's idea
  14. Hello All, Well, I just air brushed my first model ever. I guess it came out ok. There are no runs or sags. Only thing i can see is dust in my paint in some spots. I think this came from not wiping the model down well enough after sanding the primer coat... which brings me to my question... I hear so many people talk about shootin their car and then buffin it out with a very fine sandpaper. Well I tried that... I shot it with Model Master Acrylic Flat Blackas a primer over the white plastic. I then proceeded to drop my car on its roof... while it was WET! (can ya tell I am new at this? lol) It didnt take too much paint off but it sure made a mess of what seemed to look like a pretty smooth job. So I let it dry. Then I grabbed a piece of 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper and figured Id gently buff out the high areas. That didnt work as well as I thought it would and i ended up taking off half the primer/paint. I just went with it and kept sanding the high spots then shot another coat of primer/black. After it was dry I didnt dare sand again for fear or taking the paing off agian and I went ahead and shot my finishing color... Boyds Graper Pearl enamel. It came out pretty good I guess but I still see some spots that seem to have dust trapped beneath the paint. Id love to be able to get those imperfections out but I am afraid of taking all the paint off again. Can yall give this newbie (aka FNG) some tips and advice on how to buff painted finishes in order to get glass smooth finishes without destroying the whole paint job? Also, do you buff out primer coats too like i tried? and if so... what went wrong that caused me to lose so much of the primer while sanding? Was it grit? Insufficient dry time? (was dry to touch for me) or something else i am unaware of. Sorry for so many questions. Thank You, Jared
