Mr. Metallic
Can someone post some photos and comments on the new parts in the kit? 7/23/07 I have added pics below Edited September 5, 2012 by Casey
Mr. Metallic
I purchased this kit over the weekend, so I figured i sho pics of the new parts, for those interested. THIS IS NOT A FULL REVIEW, JUST PICS OF THE PARTS I THINK ARE NEW Here's the boxart so you know what to look for on the shelf. Here is the very nice looking decal sheet. Nice mix of light commercial, rep stock and custom markings. Here is the new chrome tree. Note the shallow offset, but well done wheels. Also the new valve cover and air cleaner. Here are the low profile, no name tires. And last, are the rest of the new parts. Note the new intake, bed stakes, visor, and adaptors for the modern wheels. It's been a long time since I have looked at my original iissue of the kit, but since they took the time to just tool up new trees for the new parts, i am thinking they did not modify the others. I didn't see any flash on the other parts, but I have not thoroughly examined them. These parts look like great additions, if only they had originally been included I bet the kit would have sold better. Well, i'm just glad to have it back. Thanks Revell!!! I'm in complete agreement with that! This is a kit that cried out to be a 2-in-1 in the first place. The new parts look nice. I have to say, I'm a little disappointed with the decal sheet, mainly because it only has the one set of light commercial markings (albeit in two different colors). By no means will that stop me from buying this kit, though! I see two sets of light commercial markings. Slammin' Hammer and Plum Lake Mill. Matt T.
I agree with you, Ken. I was particularly disappaointed in the two-carb option. The windshield visor looks good however, and the woodgrain decals are really nice. The entire decal sheet is a highlight of the kit. All in all, I highly recommend this kit...just not for the straight 6 "hop up parts."
MikeMc
Boy this review could'nt have come at a better time as I just picked up two of these kits along with a resin chopped body and bed to do one as a rat rod and the other as a mild hot rod.Can you guy's give me any help as to what V8 motor I can use for the hot rod??. How about that caddy motor leftover from the flathead conversion on revells 49 Merc??

Steven Zimmerman
Race Motor Replicas (RMR) has just finished casting a panel delivery body for this kit. It's not a 'stock' body, but rather a 'street rod' body with deleted drip rails, a chopped top and the rear doors laid forward at more of an angle than stock, with a one piece pie cut hood included;also included is an interior floor with wider rear wheel tubs for bigger rear tires. Ron will have some of these at Toledo, but I don't know how many.......Steve'theZman' Zimmerman

stavanzer
The so called 'Hop Up" parts in this kit are a joke. The Valve Cover is nice, but the 2 carb into one intake manifold, that bolts onto the original intake is a sad joke. Revell could put this out again, as it is otherwise a great little kit. Alan....I recall that somewhere in a conversation with Revell's late VP of Engineering Roger Harney that he expressed to me a view similar to yours on that intake manifold. I suspect that if he was still with us, we'd have seen an improvement in that part this time around! TB
stavanzer
Wow, Tim, I had not ever heard that. Larry Greenberg first pointed it out. Once Seen, you cannot Un-See it, as folks around here like to say. I substituted an AMT 2 Carb intake on mine.
