AMT 1/43 Scale "TnT Series" Truck & Trailer Kits

This started as a post on an AMT 1/43 thread and was moved here as a new thread for some reason. I know this is a truck kit but the OP wanted to create a list of all the 1/43 AMT kits. I guess you can't do that if they involve cars and trucks??

Anyway, Lets start a list of all the 1/43 Truck kits made by AMT.

I have a wrecker and a few more but can't find the photos.

I have several of the truck kits too, but they are a completely separate series from the cars

we have been discussing.

The cars were all tooled up until 69 (Notice the Newest are the "Class-of-69"!!).

The Semi trucks did not come out till 72 or 73.

I have a Built Sears issue Pete & Fruehauf 40 Beaded van, a K-Mart with the same pair

and the Pepsi set with KW 123 COE instead of Pete 359 conventional.

Never got the Tow truck!

I have both that Pepsi set, and the Sears pair.

Interesting that they were sold as a set, but in taped together separate boxes.

Of course, this was the Very first year of production!!!

I also have a built K-Mart set. And another unbuilt.

I need to dig those out and take some pic's

Oh, I painted my Sears set at School in Shop class!!!!

Yes with a Brush. They had a light green I though was close!!

And Yes, It Is Flat. Not even Semi-glossy!!

It was only available through the Christmas/Toys catalog, Not in stores!!!!

Another one is the 'Dannon Yogurt' truck and trailer set...same truck and trailer as the 7up set. I built the Dannon kit as a kid in '78/79...very nicely detailed, and they were my first effort at heavy truck kits.

Interesting..the post w/ atalog illustrations someone had posted has vanished. So in '77 they had illustrations rather than photos. I have the AMT '79 catalog--my oldest model kit catalog--and it has photos of the box art for some kits and photos of builtups for other kits.

They came out in 1973, the Pete, KW, Reefer & post trailers, each in own boxes (Pete Wrecker later in '74) some were boxed in combos for retail stores (Sears), later in '77 One box combos (Truck n Trailer)were offered in same big 1/25 AMT truck boxes: Pepsi, 7up, GY, K-mart & others, the combos lasted until the early 80's under Matchbox/AMT, a KW K100 Aerodyne (not on your pics was also made in early 80's).
as well as the seperate kits of the KW, Pete & reefer van & Pete 359 Combo truck & wrecker still available back then.

ERTL kept the seperate kits, not the combos, until the mid 80's then all 1/43 truck n trailer kits
vanished....until french HELLER reboxed them in big double combo box about ten years ago....but no chrome parts

Nice kits for the times...Round2 should get those back on the shelves ;)

K-Mart - Where the K stands for quality! (Ok, I really have no idea if that's true or not, but it is funny).

I might consider picking up these if Round 2 ever decides to reissue them. They could be an interesting change of pace.

anyone notice that the kw cabover has budd wheels, amt one had spoke wheels, also heller one looks to be a double bunk?,and the front bumper is different as well?.Also the petes look different,on looks like the small window cab, other looks like newest version?,also the conv has 225 peices, wrecker has 190 peices,i think the wrecker should have more?.I know this is all very trivial.Be nice if someone had both versions to compare them, just to see exactly what ,if anything was changed. The 359 pictured with the trailer says 225, because it came with the trailer, and it was still the little window. I bought this kit in Germany, to build for my daughter. Its all molded in white, minus the tires, and glass, obviously. Wish I would have got the wrecker, and the K100. I hope this helped!

RC2, back then surely did a run for Heller, doubt that the molds were ship over.

Heller only had to box them in their on boxes with own "innacurate" boxart...

NOTE that our french friends at HELLER made a few mistakes on the combo boxarts: the KW on boxtop is the extended 108" cab with later lower door handles & later design side grab bars/bumper!!!...different then the early 70's amt K123 kit. :o

The 359 on box art is a 1100 cab, lower door hanles..with a divided grill in 4 section & bigger bumper!!! the AMT kit is a "small window" one....at least the artist got the "Wrecker" right! (trailers don't look like Fruehauf Reefer or Post either!!) :o:blink:

Remember no Chrome Parts...."shocker" when i open the box back then :o:o:o

Sure that Round2 as all of them.

Guest Johnny

I traded the ones I had built a while back. I had the Pepsi Combo (KW Cabover and trailer) and the Pete tractor.

Both built up well out of the box and were rather well detailed given their scale!
