wayne swayze
This is a photo of the frame for another new build on my bench. The side rails are from old AMT '32 Ford roadster (front), and Vicky (rear). The rear has been stepped and C'd. Round tubing to beef up the trans mount. The rear has been raised to accept a scratch built short box. Thanks for looking.
Jantrix
I'm diggin' it. Lets see some more.
wayne swayze
A bit more to show you Rob. The older Lindberg cab has been chopped and channeled. The engine I chose was the 348 Chevy from the '58 AMT Chevy. The box is scratchbuilt and has red chestnut stain on the balsa floor. I used C channel from Evergreen to separate the planks. The grille will have mesh insert. The wheels and tires are from the Monogram '31 Model A. There's more, but I'll show other stuff later in the build. Thanks for your interest. wayne swayze
I'm having some difficulty finding the paint I need for this project, so I may just proceed with my current supplies. So, just another photo of the '34.
bpletcher55
WAYNE ,looks good ,what color or colors are thinking for this ,this lindberg kit is great i,v built meany rods from it ,
wayne swayze
Thanks Blair. Yes, it's a challenge putting a new twist on the iconic '34, so I thought the box and using the 348 engine would possibly make it a bit different. At this point, the colour will probably be a deep red or possibly Testor's Guards Red. I have a few of these '34s, a couple from way back in the days that AMT made the kit. I loved this truck back in the 60's...still do. And there are many beautiful examples of this model found right here. Always puts a smile on my face! Duntov
This is one of my all time favorite kits --- despite the fact that is almost 55 years old!!! I have built many version of it over time and still like it a lot --- Your build is just one more great approach to this versatile old kit ---- NICE WORK!!!! wayne swayze
This is nagging me from bench #2! Going with '36 Ford headlights and hairpins from an old "parts pak". Looks like I might get to the paint shop fairly soon...hooray!
southpier
how're we doin' with this?
wayne swayze
I've got most of the build pieces ready for prime/paint except the dog house for the tranny, and figuring out front shocks. My paint location was totally blocked by snow thanks to the snow plow, but I can get in there now, so shouldn't be long before paint. Thanks for asking. wayne swayze
I was just looking (again) at James2 version of the '34 pickup, and HAD to try the wheels from the Rat Roadster on mine. Man, they really look good!
James2
The whole model looks good.

wayne swayze
This shows the scratchbuilt box with balsa floor separated by C channel with bolts. The taillights are from the AMT '49 Ford kit, with '58 Chev (AMT) lenses. Hopefully, I'll be able to use the pin stripping on the tailgate (OLD decal). Beside the box shows the scratchbuilt door panel with wood at the top and fabric bottom. Using thin clear acetate, made the door windows. They will be sandwiched between the outer skin and the inner panel in a partially up/down position.

IceMan Collections
This is looking great, Wayne. I also thought about the Rat Roaster wheels for my 40 Ford rat rod. I can't tell from the pics and I'm assuming you would mention it but are you using the stock firewall? I like the bed. Will you be scratch building the tailgate or will you use the 34's one? wayne swayze
Thanks for looking Joel! The tailgate is also scratchbuilt as is the firewall. Today I was working on the transmission/floor doghouse. The floor is also scratched. The seat is a bench from the '41 Chev pickup, instead of the usual buckets. Wish I was more serious about getting in bench time, but it's getting close!
wayne swayze
So today I got some primer on some pieces.....beginning to look much better with the one colour on things. No pics today, as my camera was at home....duh...
James2
Can't wait to see'em! Have you mocked up the front axle yet?
wayne swayze
Got the primer coat on most of the car...couple pieces I'm still working on... Just thought I'd post showing how the grille will look after I paint the shell/headlights. I need to clean up and re-putty the pillars where it was chopped. It's close, but not to my standards. Also shows my firewall from .020 sheet. I still have to add stuff to it like fuel block etc. I think if I post once in a while, I might get some progress happening. Too much real life in the way! wayne swayze
Hello. I used Evergreen round stock, and drilled out holes in the '34 grille shell and '36 Ford headlights to connect them. This is a simple mock-up just to show some progress.
