Car Crazy 81
A good friend of mines wanted me to replicate his first car that he bought back in May of 1972. It was just a basic Dodge Challenger that was Bright Red with white interior & a white vinyl top and had a 318 under the hood. One day he gave me a box of his old models to restore and unknownly this old MPC 72 Challenger was in that box. The frame im using is from a AMT 70 Challenger R/T, engine is from a AMT 71 Duster i'd modified the optional six-pack intake to resemble the 2 barrel intake that the 1:1 car had. Car Crazy 81
Its been awhile since i did any progress on the Challenger. I used Evergreen .010 x .030 rectangular styrene strips for the vinyl top moldings and seams i used Rust Oleum Textured Black for the vinyl top texture and used Dupli Color Sandable White Primer for the color. To get the F5 Rallye Red as close as possible I used Rust Oleum Sunrise Red. I scratchbuilt the side marker lights. retired & glad
Very good paint job. I also like the storage of parts you showed in the firsts photos. I have a couple of these and have been wanting to set them up for parts storage and get rid of the boxes I have been using. No better time since it is 10" of snow outside and can't get out .
