Two of the Craziest "Funny Cars" ever kitted by Revell....

I have finally finished my 47 year quest to add these to my collection!!! Seems silly, but when I was 9 years old, and walked in to the hobby shop only to see these....

I was hooked, but never did get them because back then Revell kits weren't the easiest to build. In the 80's Revell reissued the Miss Deal, and I bought several, but didn't build one until 2008. After that I knew that I had to have a Revellion to sit beside her, so in 2011, I accquired an original body minus hood. I already had several of the Tony Nancy double kits, so I had the correct chassis, I had reproduction decals made, but still no hood. After a three year search, just recently a member here had a hood!!! So, the desk was cleaned, and this grail was completed!!! A very special thank you to Mr. Chuck Darnell, and Mr. Ron Lambert for your help completing this 47 year old quest. One last thing, if you have ever seen a Dodge Revellion, team Revell back then in the frenzy kinda left the front end un-finished, so I took liberties, and made an aluminum grille filler, and some turned headlight covers, I think Bob Paeth & team would approve!!!

Here's a couple pics of the '73 reissue box that shows the open front end, and was the last time this kit was ever seen again.

Also those copies of the original sell sheets are the icing on the cake for this set, as I have signed poster of the original box art too!

wow I had never looked closely at that Revellion thing there, but now that I do I love it. Tony Nancy chassis and the nailhead buick and all, that's pretty darn kool! Excellent build on the both of them!

isn't that a Dodge Polara body? what did that originate from, or was it tooled specially for this funny car?

thanks for sharing; kinda made my day!

Very cool, they both look great!

I've always liked these kits and had both back in the day.

Very outside-the-box choices for funny cars and a great job of getting more mileage out of existing molds by Revell.

I used to question the choice of body style for the Revellion, until I saw photos of real cars like the Austin-Grassi "Fuel Cuda" and Sheldon Kornblatts "Peanuts" 4dr. Galaxie.

I've got a couple of the reissue Miss Deal, but never wanted to pay what the Revellions were going for.

I did score some decals for it though, and I recall seeing a resin repop of the body somewhere, and I do have a couple of Tony Nancy kits sooo....

Thanks Bill!!! Actually the chassis is the 22jr dragster with a '64 Plymouth 426 Super Stock V-8, and the body is a '62 Dodge Dart 4 door. Pretty cool they kept this one Mopar.

I believe the Dart body started as a Revell annual kit. The Revellion was a mashup of the annual kit body and the aforementioned Tony Nancy dragster chassis. I will have to dig out the reference but this may have been one of Jim Keeler's projects at Revell.

I had this kit when it first came out. Those Revell dragster kits were challenging for a ten year old me, for sure.

LOOKS GREAT JOHN, COULD I ASK WHAT COLORS YOU USED ON THE REVELLION BODY?

THANKS

Thanks Tom, I used HOK Lime gold, followed with some Duplicolor Metalcast clear red, all airbrushed.

Thanks for all the great feedback guys!!!

Comment: We're lucky enough to have the "Miss Deal" reissued.

Question: What ever came of the "Revellion?"

Second question (if I 'm allowed) : What would the chances of seeing this kit reissued ?

One more question: Wouldn't this be in keeping with the current trend from kit manufacturers, in using assets they already have, making it pure profit for them ?

and one more thing, Great BUILDS.

Thanks again for all the positive comments!!! Greg, all good points, we did just get the Miss Deal one more time recently, but who really knows what happened to the rest of the Revellion. It was only reissued one time in 1973, and never seen again. Since the Tony Nancy kits still live, there must be the remaining body & tin parts SOMEWHERE??? Are you out there Revell?
