I was trying to reply to the rather derogatory thread here about my board, but it says it's "locked," so I guess that means it can't be replied to, hence my starting anew. To clarify, the guy who started the other thread has been a thorn in my side for years and I've been extremely patient, but he finally crossed the line and has now been banned from my board. The only "drama" there is is that which is caused by meddling posters, and I recommend that instead of worrying about it everybody go do something that really matters like kiss your wife and hug your kids, and rest assured that my board... and this one... are in capable hands. The thread was locked because the owners of this forum didn't like that people were bad mouthing another forum. They shut down threads about SA too. They were being very respectful to you and your site in doing that. The original poster might have been a thorn in your side but honestly it's a website ban him and move on. If he acts the same way here as he did on your site he will get banned here too. Also you don't like the bad mouthing your forum got here. Again I fail to see where your original post was necessary, as it will merely be likely to create drama here.. If you are referring to my comments as "meddling", please do keep in mind that as this is a discussion forum & this thread is still open, it is thus a candidate for others besides yourself to respond to. If you didn't want your comments responded to, then you simply shouldn't have made them. Tom doesn't get that part about a discussion forum. He plainly states he would have responded in the other poster's thread had it not been locked. I think he should have the chance to at least respond when someone brings up his site somewhere else. Honestly, this whole "our forum is better than yours" attitude that is sweeping across the net (on all forums) is getting tiresome. I rarely post anywhere anymore except on the one forum I am a moderator on. As for "drama" , you can find it on ANY forum if you look for it. One final thought: If you check, most "boards" or forums are dominated by a handful of posters. That's everywhere. I think 95 percent of the hobby has tired of the forum BS that goes on everywhere and are choosing not to particpate anymore. I know I am. No point of re-starting the discussion. and I recommend that instead of worrying about it everybody go do something that really matters like kiss your wife and hug your kids And why not follow your own advice and leave the matter alone, instead of creating another yes/no discussion? Our hobby is about doing something we consider fun & enjoyable. I hate all the bashing. His board is 100-percent a reflection of his personality, and is pruned of any opinion or discussion that falls outside his viewpoint. His sandbox, his rules. Those that like it should enjoy that forum for what it is. This forum is run a different way. People other than Gregg get to state their opinions. There is a much higher tolerance for debate, discussion, and differing viewpoints. This entire thread highlights the difference between the two. Unlike Tom's forum, people get a chance to say their bit too. As I type this his forum is frothing with people bashing MCM, and Tom stating how "rude" the posters here are. It's sad. What was once a positive place for modelers to meet and share has become a place where one person's personal problems with specific people gets aired again and again. It's telling that Greg Myers hasn't said a whole lot here...the other party keeps the fires stoked. Sorry this had to happen to you, Greg. You're not t he first, and won't be the last. That is pretty spot on. Tom can do whatever he wants and proven it time and time again, and if it doesn't fit precisely into his agenda it gets tossed out. Spotlight MB is not even really a discussion forum. It is the church or ocult of Tom for his followers to chant his own mantra. It will be and been his biggest failing. Pan Am, IGA, and IH had many things in common, They were all best at what they did, were at the top and all eventually failed because they all thought we know what we are doing, we are the best, we cannot fail. Their biggest failing was being not able to be flexable enough to change or think outside their boxes. That is fine, though. They can have their little piece of the world. I can completly understand, also for right or wrong why it spills over to other message boards. When you get cut off neck for apparent or unapparent you need to vent to your mates, buddies, freinds, and peers, which is partly what this is all about. so vent get over it and move on with life. The appropriate place to talk about that problem is on the Spotlight Hobbies board! Who is banned from SH, who said what on SH, who doesn't like who on SH... that's all stuff to talk about on the Spotlight Hobbies board, not here. And finally, the Spotlight Hobbies board is what it is. If you like it, hang out there. If you don't like it, ignore it. But don't bring their problems over to our forum. I understand your frustration, the only problem with that is Tom is very effective at cutting people off at the neck, so it's just not a real practical solution. Posted January 13, 2011 Share Posted January 13, 2011 ok... if someone is a member over at Spotlight, and if the Spotlight board is the type of place that's run with an iron fist and nobody gets to say anything, then there are two choices: 1. Stay there and keep yer mouth shut. His board, his rules, for better or worse. 2. Find a forum that will allow you to be part of an actual conversation. Kind of a no-brainer, people. If you hate chocolate ice cream, do you keep on buying chocolate ice cream and tell everyone else how much you don't like chocolate ice cream, or do you try a different flavor you might like better and leave the chocolate to those who like it? As I saw the earlier thread, it was mostly commenting on a technical spam issue over there and not a bash at all (though I have no idea why it was brought up in this forum). But this one has really gone whole hog on the bash part. It's become even more negative than the recently locked thread criticizing SA; personally, I don't see the need for any of this.
