suggestions?

Recommended Posts

this firebird I have been working on for a while ill do a little work and then put in its box and then pull it back out etc. I just pulled it out and I had the idea to make it look like the suspension travel is out and it would be just barely yanking the wheels maybe a few inches in real life. I made new longer struts to show the suspension travel out and I had some magnets that fit in the back that had enough weight to achieve the look I want but the problem is with the engine and hood and everything in the magnets don't have enough weight to still pull the wheels so what im asking is do you guys have any other suggestions for how I can get the car to pull the wheels off the ground and sit on the wheelie bars? heres some pics

Well if this is just for display purposes and it's not for "show" (aka if there's weight back there, you don't care if anyone sees it), I'd suggest the lead weight they sell for Pinewood Derby cars. I dunno if those are something that Hobby Lobby/Michael's carries off the top of my head, but any full-service hobby shop will carry the wood bucks, wheels and weights. They basically come in a bar like a Nestle Crunch, so you can break off how many ever you want per section.

You can get a lot of weight into oddly shaped or curved spaces, like maybe inside your rear bumper shell, by mixing lead bird-shot with 5-minute epoxy. I used to use it to ballast up model RR cars, and it works great. The smaller the shot, the more weight it will pack in the available space, because the wasted space between pellets is smaller if the pellets are smaller.
