Chuck Most
Okay- most anybody who knows me can tell you I've got a thing for rat rods. And anyone who's followed rat rods recently will tell you that 1930's-1940's Farmall tractor noses are pretty popular noses for rats. I've scratchbuilt three for my own builds so far (in 1/25 scale), and I'm kind of getting sick of having to whip one up from scratch every time I want to slap one on a rat. My question- First, is there an aftermarket resin Farmall nose in 1/25? If not, I'm thinking of scratchbuilding a 'replica stock' Farmall nose and making a mold of it to do resin casts. If I do that, do you think there's any real interest? Here's one example, on a '32 Chevy truckster.
VW Dave
I could be easily talked into a couple of those as well. please keep us posted.
Fletch
Tough call Chuck, while there is a market for such things I don't think I'd go crazy casting up a bunch in advance. I think you'd be off to cast only when you have an order for them.
lonewolf01
what would the cost be for four. they might work for a future build idea
Chuck Most
Tough call Chuck, while there is a market for such things I don't think I'd go crazy casting up a bunch in advance. I think you'd be off to cast only when you have an order for them. I'm probably going to do a mold anyway, just so I don't need to scratchbuild a new one every time I want to use one on a build. I was doing it more for own projects, but figured I'd gauge any demand for such a thing while I was at it. Here's another one I just did, on a '30 International rat. This one's been filled. And here's one I did that's been 'filled then drilled' on a '41 Chevy truck The next one, I'm going for a stock Farmall piece, I'll post pics when/if I ever finish the dam thing, and get it looking halfway decent! Draggon
OK, so I'll take two. Tell us when to order 'em!
Chuck Most
I've got my basic shell done- now it's just onto adding the details. Since there's actually some interest, I'm trying to make it a bit 'better' than I normally would for my own personal use. Geroge- that '31 Woody would be a great start for that Doodle Bug conversion- the 1:1 that used to be in my sig was a '31!
Chuck Most
Well, I've yet another Farmall shell, and I'm still planning having a mold made for casting, but... if you just want to make your own, keep your eyes peeled for a future issue of MCM!
