  1. Thanks guys, appreciate the comments. The tires are not the resin cast copies. I bought the wheels and tires off of ebay.
  2. Finished the Escalade up but never took any decent pics. Just finished up the Tahoe. Wanted the Tahoe to be a weekend warrior type tow vehicle/daily driver. Finished with Duplicolor Light Pewter Metallic like my 1:1, and Model Master wet look clear. Used Model Masters smoke/window tint on back windows. Not a fan of the chrome head lights and wheels, but oh well. Did some detail painting on the chassis. Scratch built a hitch and receiver (the ball, pin, and cotter pin were made from a sewing needle), cut off the running boards, and put factory tow hooks through the front air dam. I hated the S10 style mirrors AMT supplied so i cut and trimmed some mirrors up from a SoReal diecast Blazer. Next is the "cencal" style Escalade EXT. Lift was scratch built using styrene square stock, coils from ink pens. Brackets are from misc. Parts from an old AMT dump truck cut and fit to size. Torsion bars are toothpicks. Scratch built rear control arms, track-bar, scratch built front upper control arm drop brackets, scratch built front shocks and shock hoops, rear shocks from SoReal Concepts Blazer, scratch built dual exhaust, drive shaft yokes were kit bashed from that AMT dump truck, rear axle is from Revell Silverado, and front diff (upper half) from a Tamiya Skyline (since AMT only molded the lower halves of the axles/differentials.) Revell Rubicon Classic Lock wheels and Mickey Thompson Baja Claws. Finished in Model Masters GM Aqua Pearl Metallic and Model Masters wet look clear.
  3. Oops, made thread in wrong section. Heres what ive got so far..
  4. AMTs Escalade EXT. Added an IFS bracket lift, similar to Full Throttle suspensions or Cognito and Whiplash types. Big IFS kits never meant to go offroad. I didnt like how i did the front bracket so i cut the lower control arms off the frame crossmember, made a new bracket to drop the LCAs and returned the cross member to stock location. Added/made the drop torsion bars, kicker bars, scratchbuilt a sway bar, and still kept the kits ability for poseable front wheels. Still have to finish the rear. Add some upper control arms and shocks all the way around. Scavenged a rear axle from revells 99 silverado since AMT only molded the bottom half of the axle and left the top hollow. I cut the top half of another diff and glued it to the AMT front differential.
  5. all mocked up. I need help finding some 8 lug wheels. stock H2's maybe?
  6. thanks for the compliments guys. As for the suspension on the silverado, I scratch built it using styrene square tubing, a differential from a toyota hilux, kept the stock spindles, control arms and steering stabalizer bar (too keep the right track width). Its independent suspension using "drop spindles" with stock style torsion bars. (The pics show coil overs, but I changed that to the torsion bar setup. Realisticly this setup would be really weak running these big of tires.
  7. 99 Silverado. Early 90's F-250. Dodge Ram VTS.
  8. Its a shame that only Perry's resin makes a 4x4 conversion kit for these models. Its even more of a shame its IFS. My 1:1 is a Tahoe.. and this is what I would like to do to mine someday.. I started out with the MPC 89 C1500 kit.. and converted it to a 2500 4X4. The front axle is a Dana 60 with the correct drive side drop (the axle you would need for a 1:1 SAS swap) using a coilover setup, amd the rear end is the corporate 14 bolt. I was going to make thit a 94 model, using the grille from the 96 tahoe kit, but unfortunatley it didnt fit. ps every time i use the "img" tags "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board." comes up..
