I had the honor to run a bit with the orignal NDRA as a kid. The orignal "rockem sockem sideways traveling dirt show" Im looking to scratch build a car like this. Thanks for the info. Drew C. roadhawg Posted August 1, 2010 Share Posted August 1, 2010 Man, I sure miss the NDRA. One of the best races I ever saw was the October 1979 NDRA race at Atomic Speedway in Knoxville TN. Anyway, it wouldn't be difficult to scratchbuild that body from sheet styrene or even sheet brass. The chassis could be based on the Revell ASA chassis, and you can get wheels/tires and other parts from Fred's Resin Workshop. Fred's also has the "milder" NDRA type bodies. He's been building models for the racers around here for 40 years or so and does some really killer vacuform bodies. He does'em all, from the "factory tin" beginnings Through the plastic transition period and the wedge era all the way to the current crop of dirt late models. LOL A friend of my dad's had one just like it and traded it for a really mean new '64, black with a red interior and transistorized ignition hi-po 390. Should be a law against painting a '60 Starliner any color other than black for the street. Whoops, my bad. Took a closer look and that's a '61. That black with the red interior still goes though. They aren't my thing to build but they are unique cars that don't get represented often on any of the sites. I grew up going to wayne county speedway in Ohio and litterally watched Greg Sacks go from dirt on up through the ranks to NASCAR. You spent four to six hours breathing in dirt (not dust mind you!) and exhaust fumes, eating fried things that should never have been put near a fryer much less in it, and you usually couldn't hear right for about an hour afterwards.
