larrygre
Hey folks, I retrieved a couple of resin bodies that I have had in storage for a while and they have not stood the test of time well - both are badly warped. It looks like they could be carefully bent back into shape but this is something I have no experience at. Any tips on fixing warped resin bodies? Thanks in advance! JamesW
I've heard that if you run it under warm water while carefully bending back into shape works well.
Zoom Zoom
Resin usually responds pretty well to a hot water dunk; sub-boiling...somewhere between hot tap water and boiling...big pan of water, deep enough to immerse the body (or part of the body that is warped), hold it for a few seconds, remove, reshape, and dunk in cold water. It's much, much easier to do this w/resin than styrene. Just take baby steps, it usually works quite well. I've never had it shrink up like styrene can if it gets too hot. It just softens it a bit. MrObsessive
The only caveat I've run into when straightening out a warped section on a resin body---------you've got to be careful NOT to wash the body in hot water again! Some resins have a "memory" and like plastic, will want to go back to the warped shape. Usually lukewarm water is sufficient to wash the body if need be afterwards. Just my 2¢........and hope this helps Larry!
