  1. I decided I'm not going to use this trailer, so I'm offering it here for anyone that wants it. the trailer is painted and the leaf springs are primed, everything else is bare plastic. I'll trade for parts box stuff - '60s/'70s musclecar engines, wheels, tires, etc. also, any mid '60s - '80s pickup parts. Thanks
  2. Nice work! I remember when they were new, I wanted my folks to get one. Mom ended up with a Bobcat wagon (the Mercury version) instead.
  3. stopped in one of the local Ollie's yesterday hoping to find some Jeeps. lots of police cars and AWB novas, a couple roadrunners. i left empty handed
  4. my stash is currently around 75 kits. I made a spreadsheet with notes on what I had planned for each or if it's a donor for one or more of the others. Hope to get it down to 15-20 kits within 5 years.
  5. Agree with Tootsietoy. I had a bunch of them when I was little.
  6. I bought a couple of the Coke issue Ranchero kits so I could build a replica of my old Coke cooler. Mine is the larger version of the Westinghouse unit that came in the kit. I measured the full size unit and cut the kit pieces to about the right size before piecing them together. I need to cut down the lids and make the center piece before I start painting.
  7. Looks great! Inca Gold? I just built a Bonneville that color
  8. Finally finished the giant Pontiac just in time for it to count this year. Having a permanent workbench setup was helpful this year. Hoping to get through more of the stash and improve my skills this year. Happy New Year to all and thanks for the inspiration.
  9. Trying to get this beast done before the end of the year. Got the wheels dechromed and painted. Still need to foil the side trim and I finally got the bumpers stripped so I can clean them up before spraying with Revell Chrom.
  10. I started building when I was probably 6 or 7, but I didn't hold on to any of those early efforts. The oldest build I still have is this '72 Corvette I built around 1997 or so. It's a replica (sort of) of the first Corvette I ever rode in, that belonged to my uncle. The body and engine are from the AMT '70 Street Machine issue, and the chassis and interior are from the Revell '69 kit. His car was an automatic, but at the time, I couldn't find the correct TH400, so it has a white metal TH350 I believe I ordered from R&D Unique. I recently swapped the tires out and added the vanity plates he had on his car. This was the first time I used Alclad on bumpers, and it's held up pretty well. There's a few things I would do differently if I built it today, but it's a good memory.
  11. Had to clean up the hobby desk over the holiday as we had guests (it's in our guestroom). So before I dug back into the Cobra racing team set, I decided to have a little fun and practice some techniques with one of my $13 scores from Ollie's. I opted to use the curbside parts for this one to keep it simple. I scribed the doors and trunklid, and added a black wash before I primed, tried the embossing powder for carpet, and foiled some of the emblems/scripts before applying Testors Inca Gold lacquer. The interior is Tamiya dark yellow, with gold embossing powder. I could have used another coat of paint, but I like the overall result of the foil, and learning things for the next build.
  12. working on another $13 Ollie's kit. Building the Bonneville curbside, just to practice some paint and other techniques. I got some primer on the body, and tried the embossing powder for carpet in the interior.
  13. How do you apply the powder into the glue? just sprinkle it on, or use some sort of sifter? I have used various fine screens to sift the flocking in the past, but I'm about to try the embossing powder and I want it to come out nicely. Edit: please disregard - I searched a little and found your posts about application in another thread. 👍
  14. Glad I'm not the only one that had this problem. I recently built the Meyers Manx (same chassis) and I fiddled with that steering linkage for far too long. Finally got it halfway close and decided it was good enough.
  15. the body has some inaccuracies but there are a lot of good parts in the kit. The 1:1 chassis is the essentially the same between the C2s (midyears) and C3s (sharks) as well.
