The recently reissued Godier Genoud Kawa, Honda 750 and Laverda are going to be complemented by a

BMW R60/5 in Flic spec:

These will go along nicely with the Honda reissues MPC announced.

Hopefully Revell will see this...

I believe the "Prestige" edition versions are discontinued. They are available in a less expensive regular edition, though. I don't think Heller has a US distributor. I never see their kits in shops. I bought the Laverda 750SFC from Heller directly.

According to one site, they're bringing back the Norton Commando as well as the BMW.

Have the Heller kits already been discontinued?? I can't seem to find them available anywhere.

Let me know which ones you want.

I'm going on holidays in France in less than a month and I can get you anything.

Thanks for the offer, but I wouldn't impose like that. Edited by DanR

I've still got one of the original Heller Norton Commando's on my shelves. A neighbour bought a Norton Dominator '88' when his dad won the 'Football Pools' back in the 60's, he was old enough to ride it on the road, I wasn't! So I rode on the back.

An R60/5 cafe racer with a 1000cc engine, a model of which could be built from the impeding Heller reissue, got me into the Ton Up Club in 1984,

of which I'm subsequently a member to this day.

To become a member of this semi-covert society, you have to ride from the Ace Cafe in North London to the Madeira Cafe on the Brighton sea front,

averaging over 100 mph. The proprietors of the Ace Cafe make a phone call to the Madeira Cafe and from that moment, the clock is ticking.

It's 70 miles, first through pretty much the entire city of London, then on rural roads through southern England, with not a yard of motorway.

Under normal circumstances, it's a 1 1/2 hour journey. To get into the Ton Up Club (the 'ton' is 100 mph), you have to do it in less than 40 minutes.

I then proceeded with the bike to the Isle of Man TT, to participate in the Battle Of The Twins. Unfortunately, I ran out of petrol on the first lap.

Someone had syphoned my tank the night before.

Later that year I took the bike to the Assen TT in Holland, where its top speed was clocked at 141.25 mph.

Not too shabby for an amateur effort I essentially did in my appartment on the fifth floor, no?

Yes, my fellow Americans, this is hot rodding Euro-Style.

  • 6 months later...

I just received my 1/8 Heller Honda 750. I also have the MPC version.  I believe the Heller will be more detailed.  I cannot yet determine which one is more accurate.

I hope they produce some detail sets. All of my detailing parts are 1/12.

Has anyone built this one?

Thanks,

Joe.

The Heller CB750 is a European version, but with some work, you can make it appear as an American K1 or 1971. The MPC CB750, out of the box is good as an American market bike. It may require some detailing to make it represent a European bike. Tail lights, turn signals and other details vary country to country.
